Binny was neither a batsman nor a bowler. He was bits and pieces. Shankar is someone who has the potential to bat in top 6, averages 50 in domestic cricket.

You are either a batsman or a bowler first. A batsman who can bowl is called batting alrounder like Kalis was. A bowler who can bat is called bowling alrounder like Lance Klusner, Shaun Pollock, Kapil Dev, Imran Khan.
express bowling Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Vijay Shankar can be very handy on a seaming pitch or swing friendly conditions. There, an extra proper batsman often helps a lot and his bowling will be much more potent in such conditions. He is a tall guy and bowls a good bouncer too despite being a medium pacer.

Only disappointment is from what I have seen he isn't a big hitter.Otherwise would have been a great option in ODIs as well.
