Dhawan also usually scores quickly or gets .Don't scratch around too much often.Rahul has shown in both ODIs and T20s he can't take advantage of powerplays . If Dhawan who had 2 two poor scores is out of form , how is Rahul who had 3 failures in ODIs and 5 out of six overall in any better form ? Dhawan is lefty , won't get bogged down in ODIs and proven performer in big tournaments .Only reason Rahul scores over him frankly is he is young . Dhawan is out of form. Check out his scores in recent times even in first class. He plays one off decent innings here and there. That's it. On contrary to your claim dhawan scratch around a lot if he is finding it difficult. Rahul is blast or bah-bye player. Everyone knows he doesn't stick around much if he is not in zone and if sticks around he absolutely kills it. Regarding how many matches he won, he has barely played 6 ODI's. Has an average of 55. He is a potential match winner absolutely no doubt about that. Besides rahul is technically better than Dhawan. For now I wud concentrate on d champions trophy..Post Ur squads n d playing 11 for CT.. My team: Rahul Rohit Virat Yuvi/Raina Dhoni Kedar Hardik Jadeja Ashwin Shami/BK Bumrah Reserves: Raina/yuvi, Shami/BK, Mishra, Umesh, Dhawan( considering 16 man squad) It's never a 16 man squad for an ICC tournament. It'll be a 15 man squad. My squad is like this:- First XI:- Rohit Rahul Kohli(c) Yuvi Dhoni(wk) Kedar Hardik Jadeja Ashwin Shami Bumrah Reserves:- Dhawan,Pant,Chahal,BK. I'd pick Dhawan over Rahane as back up opener in CT.Pant is in my squad over Manish and Raina as he can open, play in the middle and also keeps.Chahal over Kuldeep and Mishra for me.Others are automatic selections. In case of injury back up players are:- Rahane,Hooda,Mishra,Thampi. Edited February 5, 2017 by ShebbySB express bowling 1

How is his confidence level After 6 mnths it shud be seen who is in better form and obv who is fit Dhawan has nt been all good only, there is a reason he has lost his place. And yes Rahul hasnt used his opp as well SO no point taking a call right now. Things can change dramatically in next few mnths Why did Dhawan lose his place? How many ODIs did he fail before being dropped

GautiMaan Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Has Dhawan really won games for us single handedly for some reason none of his innings stick in memory like say Gambhir or even Rohit.

And you are asking for match winning innings from Rahul in 3 matches of England series and from grand total of 6 matches he played till now!!! Recently in t20 series second match he played match winning innings at outstanding strike rate with fair amount of timing when both sides struggled to time the ball properly.Included this just to let you know he is not out of form. He has problem of throwing it away trying too many shots. Edited February 5, 2017 by Pollack

This is what I said: Rahul is a player who singl-ehandedly win you games. This statement does not mean he already has done so. Just a statement indicating what type of player he is. But yes it can be interpreted the way you did as well. BTW you made claim about Dhawan as well but only two innings to justify it. Lord 1

Other factor was him n rohit none had a s/r above 100 and their strike rotation isnt gr8 either When u loose place in other formats that means team mngmt is slowly loosing faith in u . His job was to be aggresive one among to and he wasnt living upto modern standards. At this stage if their is increasing competition around it doesnt help either. About failing in odi before, well he made runs in last odi series against Aus. But how many times can ur runs on absolute patta save ur weakness

How has Rahul done enough in 6 ODIs(3 vs Zim) to deserve a spot ahead of him?

How has Rahul done enough in 6 ODIs(3 vs Zim) to deserve a spot ahead of him? M nt mixing format, just check how badly was this guy caught by Sa team when they came to India in 5 odi series Good bowlers will always expose dhawan in any format, which is what Sa did when they came to India, Aus, Sa, NZ did when he went there prior to 2015 WC. CT was in 2013 and Wc 2015, thats past Rahul hasnt done anything to keep his place thats why we r having a debate or else there wud have been no debate. But 6 odi's are really less The reality is rite now there is no ODI cricket and other formats will dictate who will start in the playing 11, including IPL stats Dhawan shud definately go to CT, i hope they dnt take rahane All dhawan can do rite now is pile on runs in domestic odi and ipl. Rahul has test cricket n ipl to win the race as well. Its ultimately who wins team mngmt trust, dnt forget dhawan went to ct 2013 due his debut 100 against AUS in test cricket.
