So how much cricket is exactly left for Ravi Ashwin?

He is suffering from sports hernia and according to his own admission his fitness is taking a toll on his bowling. Even during Eng and BD series, he did not look at his deadly best like he did during WI tour or SL series where he tormented Sanga. Doctors on this forum would know that sports hernia is very tough to cure completely. His ground fielding is also getting slower by days and so is his ODI bowling.

So how much cricket is left for Ashwin? I will be extremely sad if he does not take 500 test wickets.

He is fine, I am glad he played the Bangladesh test match as a warm

up so that he could take out all his rustiness and be all set for the first test against Aus.

When you set high standards like Ashwin has set, then such great players question themselves a bit too much after one bad or average outing. I am sure Tendulkar and all great players felt and reacted the same way.

Ashwin is like Kohli too. Afrer one average performance, he will work hard. I think he bowled well anyway against Bangladesh at times.

Surely even though I don't like comparing, but to mention Kohli has a lot more support in batting with the likes of Pujara, Rahane, Vijay who have been around with him for a while now.

Ashwin too has support of Jadeja but has pioneered this new era of spin bowling after the departure of Kumble. He probably inspired the likes of Jadeja and now together they are lethal and a big threat to anyone who comes to India. His ability to take fifers and even 3-4 wickets per innings are as crucial as any 100 by a batsman at times.

As I stated earllier, he is getting into the league of the Kapil Dev as one of the greatest all rounders of India. We hardly have had any and Ashwin will be part of that league with Kapil.

Its time to save him for Test cricket.give him a bigger contract for missing out on ODIs but keep him fresh and not play 20 odis a season.

IPL should help him with his pocket......BCCI should keep him away from meaningless bilateral ODI's and T20's
