Including young bowlers in the nets who are also prospects for the Indian team, will only push all other bowlers to do well and improve their gme and take it to the next level. This is also a competition within a competition. It is good for Indian cricket.

Our bowlers have had knack of going into their comfort zone after few good performamces, this will only motivate them to keep on improving.

Batting stats matter a lot more than bowling stats because test you need to see who has the temperament. 

 

So If a players averages 40 also in Ranji but is a pretty consistent ODI batsman, then they can be drafted into test batting regardless of their ranji average since they have done well in ODI's and played knocks where they have built the innings under pressure against good attacks. So that performance against international attack in ODI's can be transitioned into test cricket.

 

Hence, instead of aving Manish Pandey get a chance in twenty20 which is not that suited for him, we should have given chance to him in test instead. Luckily we have enough playere now with Karun who are already waiting, but if anything in future we should look to transfer our top ODI players with good temperament and top ranji scorers.

 

Rahane and Pujara are full products of our Ranji Cricket as they grind out their and scored tons of runs and earned it rightfully

 

Kohli is the product of ODI success

Thing is....there can be no hard and fast rule regarding selecting batters with only high FC averages... that is the point

 

Guys like Sehwag and Vijay had below 50 FC averages too.... and if they were left out on the basis of that, we would have missed 2  top batters.

Sehwag was picked based on his ability of 50 overs. Ganguly backed Sehwag whom he saw do well hitting big sixes in domestic tournament. He got him in then in both ODI's and tests after that.

 

Sehwag was too a product of ODI's.

 

Hence I keep saying, ODI is the best transition. If someone has a good ODI average or even decent but are looking unique, they can be tried ahead of Ranji players.

That is is it was LOI if you remember that tournament it was broadcasted on DD where he hit big sixes and selected into ODI's. 

He was then picked to come late down the order in the tri series in South Africa where he hit a 50 and impressed the selectors and Ganguly.

 

Ganguly liked his style from LOi tournament and then picked him.

That is what I am saying.... many top  cricketers are picked based on playing styles which are suitable for international cricket.... and not just stats.

 

Like say Aniket Chaudhary... we see a 6'4"  left arm pacer bowling 135 k to 145 k... getting steep bounce and also having the ability to swing the ball...running through the Bangladesh test side in an A Team game.... bowling in good areas too..... and you know that this guy deserves to be tried in international matches.
