Kumble- Aniket Choudhary, Basil Thampi and Nathu Singh travelling and training with the team with the aim of “engaging them” and “have them in the scheme of things”.

A pragmatic Kumble also laid down his plans for the future- a bid to build “a champion side” and groom youngsters by “bringing them into the work culture” and giving them the resources to succeed at international level.

“We want to put together a squad which we want to keep going forward. They all want to be a part of the team and for us to build a champion side — this is the 14th Test out of 17 this season. It’s keeping the team together that has got these results.”

Kumble also pinpointed Aniket Choudhary, Basil Thampi and Nathu Singh as prospective fast bowlers traveling and training with the squad with the aim of “engaging them” and “have them in the scheme of things”.

“We want options for any eventuality. We had injuries in the past just before the game or on day of match. We want to keep team together and build on who will be a part of the Test arena, barring one or two, for a long time,” he added.

However, the Indian head coach was also quick to add, “It’s not necessary that they will be a part of the squad in near future, but looking at the series coming up or even far ahead it’s good to have them in the scheme of things and bring them into the work culture that we all expect and is needed for success at the international level.”

Aniket choudhary  was troubling kohli in the nets, India desperately needs a good left arm pacer, hopefully he gets inducted into the team soon, really loving kumble as coach

This is one of the best decisions by Kohli-Kumble .......as Aniket,  Nathu and  Thampi are the 3 fast bowers in India who combine pace / bounce with skills among uncapped pacers.

Yup its shud keep someone ishant on his toes now.......

I hope they add Navdeep and few more time to time. Luckily we have a lot of talent in fast bowling.

Yes. I hope he gets to bowl in IPL. But I fear he may become a trundler after a while since he is not very quick to begin with.

Navdeep is still young and can get quicker. He is quick enough even now. Bowls mid to high 130s.

I would like if they include Avesh Khan in this lot. He seemed to be very inspiring in last U19 WC. Its surprising that West India kid debuted for them last year and Avesh Khan still not in radar. Selectors also play key role here. Until they will keep selecting Ashok Dinda in India A, we won't be moving forward.

Avesh khan stats don't look impressing. May be someone who watched him can chime. He probably is more suited for limited overs games.

Wow this gives me goose bumps

we finally have management and captain team . Linking with under 19 and A coach to do all to get fast bowlers developed

they get it .

this is brilliant

Kumble has been talking about this approach since he was interviewed.  AK is quality - he may not present himself as a coaching Guru, but is doing all the right things behind the scenes.  Including pairing up with VK to get the best out of him.  VK is still a bit hot-blooded, and benefits massively from Kumble's steadying presence.

I'm just waiting for the next Karnataka non-squad player who gets included in the nets, and the ignorant frogs will start ribbiting away, facts be damned.

Avesh hasn't played FC cricket in last two years. He is playing mostly U23.

But his stats before two years were also okish.

He was only 17-18 then. Can't expect such a young bowler to do wonders in FC.

Will wait till they are actually selected into the squad first before celebrating .

We had what 17 tests this season alone and yet didn't even try a single new bowler .We could have easily given a couple of them a go and blooded into the team without any pressure.Yet we didn't , so unless they actually are picked , this is just PR talk. And talk is cheap.
