This is heated stuff. Virat warned officials about Aussies looking to dressing room while using DRS. Virat says it had been happening for 3 days.

That's weird logic. The very fact that an umpire had to step in and send Smith on his way means that some "indiscretion" did occur. But we all know what happens when and English or Aussie player is caught compared to a subcontinental one.

I am fine with ICC not charging Smith any penality(even though I would have liked it), since clearly ICC DRS rules don't have it mentioned yet that batsman will be charged, but to give the reason that umpire intervened is just totally bull. Should have come up with a better excuse.

Why not clarify what the rule is and how that has been followed by the ICC ?

IMO it is blatant cheating. IIRC Rashid Latif was handed a 5 match ban or so coz he cheated by deliberately claiming a bump catch. How is this incident any different from deliberate cheating, especially when Kohli is on record saying that he had already told the umpires twice and that Handscomb was the one who asked Smith to look at the dressing room. To me it looks like the whole Aussie team was in on it otherwise a newbie (Handscomb) wouldn't have said so and neither would've Kohli complained to the umpire. All the evidence suggests that Aussies were cheating with the DRS system and I guess now we know why they were so much better than India at reviews.

My reponse was to show ICC being too cheeky on coming up with excuse. It was retard response by the officials no doubt.

Don't think it was as bad a cheating as Ball tampering etc.

 

I agree Smith should have been fined as I wanted him to be fined.  But it wasn't as bad as say other cheating.We got to move on.

Agree. Time to move on. Unless video evidence surfaces of previous alleged incidents,there is no point dragging this on.

Kohli's intention is not to get Smith fined. Its upto ICC match referee. He is not going to lose his sleep over this matter. I am sure he and his team are already focussing on next match. Its fans like us who get worked up as we have time to kill till next match :)

Because there is specific rule for that.

Looks like we are coming back to good old days of ICC where Australia and England will never be guilty while teams and players  like Pakistan Srilanka will be reprimanded/fined for no reason. Indian players/teams will be warned in media.

 

Anyone who thinks its not linked to Lodha \Sashank\ ICC reforms has not gone beyond nearest town where he was born or is simply too full of himself.
