we have shot ourselves royally on the foot in both tests,we are not good enough to play on these poor pitches.we would have wiped the floor with them on pitches like the Englad series.the worst part is i dont see the pitches improving in the other 2 tests.

I don't think they are rattled In fact, they have shown that they are no pushovers and that India needs to be at its best to beat them this time.

Aus has had 3 scores of 250+ and India has one. In the second test, Aus has the highest score of all 4 innings. Don't know who is rattled, but India is down so far. The rattling part comes from the fact, they have given a window for India to come back. India can look more positive and work on low and slow bounce of Ranchi and are better prepared. But still they have to find a way to battle Lyon. The turn he is getting is making Ashwin look like a minnow bowler.

Even great players can struggle on dust bowls, rank turners if bowlers bowl well. There is no shame in it. There is a difference between great players of spin and doing great against spin on rank turners. We haven't produced many such tracks in 2000s that we are producing in last 3-4 years.

Even great players can struggle on dust bowls, rank turners if bowlers bowl well. There is no shame in it. There is a difference between great players of spin and doing great against spin on rank turners. And this lot struggle on decent turners .They made Pune look as bad as that Mumbai wicket where Clarke took 6 fer

 

 

Agree about not producing similar tracks in 200s but Mumbai was an exception.We also produced one in Kanpur against SA.These tracks were throwback to the 90s under Azhar

Rahane to me is still a decent player of spin bowling. He has just been trying too many things and hence getting out. He has to just calm down like he did in the 3rd innings and formed the p'ship with Pujara. He is better batsman when he has to focus and team needs him more, that's when he plays spin with more caution. 

 

This is how he needs to handle spin. He has scored runs in Ranji against spin. It is not that all Ranji spinners suck. There are good spinners in most teams so he batted against spin a lot and scored lots of runs. He just needs to play more straight bat now to spin for few months until his game is back. He is a flashy batsman to spinners. Just curb that like he did when batting in this test and I am sure he will add lots of runs soon to spin.

It isn't just that their players are better players of pace.

 

 

As I said it's all relative. Line and also depends to some extent how batsmen play you. If someone like Sehwag and Warner attack, bowlers will eventually lose their line and length.

Yes Pune was certainly bad. Even in 90s, we didn't have such tracks so frequently. Regarding Vvs, Viru, they barely played on such raging turners. In 2004, they struggled badly.

Vvs did not struggle the shots he played at Mumbai 2nd innings were incredible and his innings changed the match.viru knocks against muruli and Mendis in srilanka were very good.

that pitch in SL was not as bad a rank turner as Pune or Mumbai 2004. I am talking playing on rank turners. Like VVS, even Pujara and Rahane and Rahul played incredible innings.
