Pitch turning early is fine but balls keeping low from the first session and shooters taking random wickets is poor. It brings in an element of luck where an innocuous delivery can take the wicket of a top batsmen.

ICC’s regulations for rating a pitch ‘very good’ state, “Good carry, limited seam movement and consistent bounce throughout, little or no turn on the first two days but natural wear sufficient to be responsive to spin later in the game”.

 

@sensible-indian This is what I said. The odd ball did keep low but overall its frequency was extremely low that it could be considered consistent bounce throughout.

Double standards of these non Asian teams knows no bound. 

extra is different than variable bounce. occasional delivery bouncing extra or keeping low is different. bangalore was far too variable.

odd ball kept low! are you serious? Kohli, Smith, Ashwin, Mitch Marsh all got out due to ball keeping low. Little or not turn on the first two days really. How did Lyon got so many wickets then on first day, ball was flying across?

In the first day of the Bangalore match, one area of the pitch gave enough for lyon to get 8/50. something he will struggle likely to ever accomplish on a good pitch on day 1.

 

Also these surfaces give chances for average spinners and mediocre spinners to bowl us out.Makes it a lottery. Unlike 2012 when swann and monty beat an unsettled indian side fair and square.

 

There was no need at all for bcci idiots to poke their nose in at pune. This indian side has genuine quality with

powerful batsmen and spinners.

 

At Bangalore, it could be incompetence or a unforeseen problem the curator could not handle.The experienced retired cricketers who played over 70+ tests got it wrong as well.

 

In 2013, they prepared atleast two bad surfaces for the aussies and made it impossible for them to compete.

 

The problem is not with hayden .

 

The scheduling has been very unsatisfactory as well. The main test centres should conduct ind aus test series.period

 

 

even in 2012, that Mumbai track was a rank turner that suited the bowling of Monty Panesar.

Let me clear few things first:

1)I don't agree with 'very good' rating of the pitch.I would call it good or at worse above average.No way below average or substandard.

2)Those guidelines for rating pitch are followed liberally not absolutely. So even if there was more turn on the first two days it doesn't mean it shouldn't be considered 'very good'.

Now about ball keeping low. Nobody denies there wasn't variable bounce at all. So few dismissals are bound to happen due to it. You pointed me out like 4 dismissals out of 40 !! The game got to the fourth day. How can it be when it offered that dreadful variation in bounce. It was manageable overall and hence good pitch taking other things into consideration like some help for fast bowlers too.

Atleast make it consistent for all types of pitches. If they do that, I have no problem with rating Pune and Bangalore as poor pitches.

I really don't get this obsession with 5 day pitches. Who has the time to watch boring endless and predictable matches that end in draws. Pitches like these provide great entertainment and they ensure there is a result. I watch cricket to be entertained and I mean the entertainment that comes from the battle between the bat & ball, not to see batsmen inflating their averages on flattish pitches and bowlers being reduced to cannon fodder.

After a long time we see a pitch that aids the bowlers and every Australian ex cricketer and their mother has a problem with it.

As long as the pitch is fair for both sides, or maybe the Daytona 500 should rip up the road after 200km and run the rest on dirt?

 

You're in charge of preparing a 5 day test wkt, and IMO it's something your country is either unwilling or unable to do.
