Obviously not the greatest cricketer from the subcontinent (Imran is) but he's well on course to be statistically the greatest batsman from the subcontinent.
A career average of 57 is astonishing. :two_thumbs_up: Obviously, adjusted for Z/B its lower, but his record v most teams is very good.

Away avg outside of Asia is 40.with only 5 hundreds.
Obviously not the greatest cricketer from the subcontinent (Imran is) but he's well on course to be statistically the greatest batsman from the subcontinent.
No he isnt statiscally the best batsmen.Scoring 2 doubles and triple againist Bangladesh to shore up stats means nothing.

He's also achieved the highest ever ICC rating by an Asian batsman' date= played many match winning knocks and has a fine record against the best bowlers of his time. Not a fan of his by any means (would rather watch KP) but he's a total legend.
What fine record do you talk of? He avgs 30 something in SA and 30 something in England.Avgs 30 in India and WI as well.Thats 4 of the top 7 test nations. What match winning knocks?SL hasnt won a test match in AUS or India.Has 1 test win in SA in which Samaraweera and Herath were heroes.Dont think he has any match winning innings in ENG or WI either. And somehow he always misses one or two matches of an overseas test series with injuries or something.

He is higher on the list than Imran Khan for sure, I have no idea how the hell people are placing IK over Sanga. Sanga is far better than IK .
How exactly? Sanga avgs 30 or less againist 4 countries. Againist how many countries does IK avgs more than 25 with the ball.And then add his batting. Sanga isnt fit to tie the shoelaces of SRT/IK/Sunny etc.

Like thongale said love to see some Idians' reaction suddenly when Sanga reaches a milestone forcing me to believe his fan boys (like Sanga has some supernatural powers). Otherwise I don't give a flying feck about who is the best Asian batsman and who's the best Asian cricketer bla bla bla.. One thing is for sure that he's a modern great and will finish as an ATG of the game (even now). But here Sanga has a disadvantage because in SL lots of matches could be rain affected than most other countries resulting in draws even when the track is result oriented. About limited over stats, there were many players considered as ATGs who played considerable amount of ODIs but couldn't become real forces in that format but Sanga even being a genuine all-rounder in ODIs (WK throughout his career unlike in test) has been continuously improving his batting in the format. His recent performances (even at an age of 35+) suggest if he showed that intent bit earlier in his career he could have had similar impact as some of the other ODI greats. Just that he was assigned the anchor role in the SL side has slowed down his natural stroke-play at one stage. He was also able to adjust to the T20 format and doing a decent job when few other modern greats have given up the format. Those are enough for me for my conclusion. Don't buy any dumb argument against him. But, still my fav SL batsman was Aravinda though. Sanga :hehe: still can't take that place.
