Good news for you today, the ECB have agreed a deal for the Olympic stadium for the 2019 world cup. 2 games will be hosted there, most likely England v Australia and India v Pakistan apparently. Capacity will be somewhere between 60,000 and 80,000 for cricket I believe.

Probably a final and a India Pakistan game.

I live 15 mins away from this stadium. Hope they hold Ind vs Pak there and I am able to get tickets.

The final will be at lords. The article said one of the games would be an England group game (against Australia would be most logical) and the other an undecided but presumably high profile game.

Time to book a Midland train :elefant:

Indian public will beat the crap outta BCCI personnel if they dares to take such aggressive actions.:bumsmack:

No not really. IMO ICC will be more scared about BCCI and broadcasters not toeing ICC's line. BCCI can have a IPL on the lines of MLB and majority of Indian public wouldn't mind.

U tell me, do u really believe BCCI has the gut to pull out of champions trophy?

I'm not saying ICC won't be scared if BCCI indeed take such unprofessional decision. Of course it will be since they will lose a large portion of it's revenue.

But BCCI won't get away without any consequences either. Indian public will make sure of it. :aha:

I've already mentioned earlier I wouldn't mind BCCI skipping ICC tourneys if the alternative is to be the whipping boy of all and sundry despite being the biggest revenue generator in world cricket. Indian public will happily take an extended IPL over a tourney not involving India.

And the "unprofessional" decision that you speak of was the ICC proposal which arbitrarily moved the financial goalposts without any basis or financial formula in place. I would've been surprised if BCCI had kept quiet. You can't expect the highest revenue generator to take pittance without any sound reasoning. I term it robbery.

What do you know about Indian public?

ICC is digging its own grave.

If BCCI pulls out of FTP and creates a 6 month IPL window, there will be no turning back, cricket as an international sport will be finished.
Because a six month IPL would see auctions where top players would be getting 7-10 million per year. That is the kind of money that'd make even Steven Smith resign as Aussie captain and play IPL.

TBH it will happen eventually. Give it time and cricket will go the way of MLB - 6 month long sason, a 2-3 month break and another 2-3 month for an intl tourney or series. I've seen how majority of Indian folks love IPL. Uncles, aunties, moms, dads, grandparents etc. love the 8pm IPL slot. Surprising part is that most of the folks who love IPL were never hardcore cricket fans to begin with but follow IPL.

Would love a 5-6 month IPL season with matches mostly on the weakend .

Bound to happen in the next decade or so. Test cricket is dying and odis are no match for T20s. Eventually IPL modeled on the likes of MLB or NFL will be launched with key games over the weekend. You will have your divisions and key rivalry games. The more I see the success of IPL, I know people will love it. If it's T20 cricket people wouldn't mind watching IPL over intl cricket.

Well, slightest increase in petrol price triggers mass protest in India and public don't hesitate to get involved in vandalism even if the government had every logical reason to increase the price.

Well it's not restricted to India only, this is how the ppl from subcontinent behaves. First and foremost they think about themselves and how they r getting affected by a so called logical decision.

Good luck to BCCI. Let's see how they manage to make mass ppl understand the revenue share MODEL of ICC :laugh1:

Do you think folks heading BCCI are idiots? They are the ones who managed to come to the top and know how to play the game. They wouldn't be saying "We will not play in World Cup because of ICC's unfair revenue sharing model". They will simply extend the IPL and majority of the folks will love it. You can have the ICC tourney in the background all you want.

As far as this empty threat is concerned, we'll, this is clearly a prime example of thuggery and extortion which is why ICC shouldn't budge. Let's see how far BCCI can go. :om:

I think you are mistaken... thuggery and extortion was performed by ICC by changing the revenue sharing model arbitrarily with no basis and no financial model. BCCI is simply stating it doesn't make sense and they will have no part in these whimsical changes. Quite logical methinks. And there's one golden rule of negotiations - whoever holds the cards calls the shots. BCCI does with the backing of the biggest revenue stream. Shashank Manohar saw what's coming and moved away citing "personal reason" :giggle:

ICC was hoping it could take advantage of turmoil in BCCI's ranks due to its tussle with Supreme Court (SC) but the SC has itself backed BCCI in challenging ICC's proposed changes to revenue sharing model. Manohar saw it, was taken aback as he didn't expect it and scurried away.

Just a side thought but does the fact the BCCI are having to make threats over the proposed revenue changes perhaps signify they're not as confident over the votes we believed they'd bought in their favour when the proposals go to voting soon as we recently thought?

BCCI has already got the numbers while meeting and announcing the Tri Series with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, apart from that Zim and WICB vote are expected to vote in BCCI favour.

ICC Needs 8-2 majority to change the constitution, this is just a Thermo-Nuclear option in case anyone tries to act funny. This is the new CEO talking in Legal terms, Srinivasan would have directly told everyone to *k off whereas the CEO Johri is being professional and using Legal terms from the 2014 signed documents.

for it to happen, it will require a window of opportunity, politically & management-wise. And this is the opportunity.
