Which are the best (or/and your favorite) hill stations in Ind? Post pictures if possible!

It could be in terms of number of tourists visiting annually, scenic beauty, activities and facilities, untouched natural environment, or similar criteria.

I've been to Kalimpong. Great little town. For me, its Gangtok. Beautiful, just the right balance of small town with big town amenities and night life.

It was the best time of my childhood. Life then was carefree, easy. The weather and the mountains made it serene.

Generally when everyone comes to South India (or Tamil Nadu) , they will mostly go to Ooty for hill stations .

But should check out Kodaikanal , beautiful town with much better mountain scenery and spots than Ooty.

Wayanad also another great location.Generally loved both Shimla and Darjeeling too .

But my favorite is definitely Kodaikanal simply becoz I spent most time there.

Chakrata, one of the least known hill stations in India due to it being an army area and has not been promoted much as a tourist place. Most of the Chakrata is owned by army and land has been given on lease to localites. It is about 100 kilometers from Dehradun City and out of that 40 odd kilometers is consistent hilly terrain. It is a small town and is a part of Jaunsar-Bawar, scheduled tribe of Jaunsaris. It sees quite a lot of snowfall every year during winters, December - Feb and that is the best time to go there. This year we had a lot of snowfall there even in March, just before Holi.

I am planning to visit Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Gangtok in Mid April. Can you please tell me how the weather would be like. Would it rain?? I don't want to travel all the way from Canada to sit indoors in rains. Also can you guide me on what are the things to do.

also I am flying to Darjeeling but is there a way to take trains to these two places. I hate travelling on roads.
