I don’t talk hypothetically. If the total revenue is $2.5 billion and if India’s contribution to it, over 70 per cent, is taken out, then $700 is left. The operating cost for the ICC, including tournaments, is $900 million.

 

Does the new ICC constitution allow member boards to arrange bilateral series outside the Future Tours Programme (FTPs)?
Yes. Even in the new governance model, FTPs between two countries are unaffected.

 

So India will have the opportunity earn additional revenue through bilateral series.
Certainly. Even in the worst case scenario, every country would like to come to India and play. Even (if) there’s no FTP, any country will be happy to tour India because of the force of the market.

 

How much will TV revenue suffer if India decides to pull out of the Champions Trophy?
I will tell you the exact figure if India decides to pull out and that can happen only after the general body. But it’s common sense; if India doesn’t play, it will become very difficult for the broadcasters to even produce (the event).

"Market forces" were not in favor of India until J D took over BCCI. When our officials had power in ICC, the market forces could be swung to other countries. If Indian officials do not enjoy power then the other ICC officials can swing the "Market Forces' to favor others.

 

Clearly BCCI is losing its power due to developments in last 3 years. It is not ICC which is struggling, but BCCI.

Moving out of CT will be another blow to BCCI.

The way you think that things cant change is a big delusion and has been a fall for many people and corporates. Have seen many who boast and brag that i am this and i am that suffer a lot. In your analogy, ICC seems to be Nokia, not Bcci who has not recognized that cricket has changed and mutated and still want to hang on to old ways

Do you really think that Team India will not participate in CT ? or The CT won't happen without Team India.

 

What was notable is that BCCI lost in the voting. It was totally unexpected that BCCI will slip further down the power game. The shift of support will change the dynamics of the cricketing fraternity. The situation is too volatile at the moment.

Contractual obligations will mean that BCCI will send a team for CT, otherwise more litigation will follow. Already SC litigation has cost BCCI a lot and they have lost in it. Don't think they will dare to go into more litigation troubles. BCCI will send a team imo. They just would not like to have another obstacle.

Fair enough, but there will be repercussion of that move. Things are different now with SC having got fully involved in Indian cricket. Lets wait and watch the further developments regarding participation.

More than the money - make sure that the ICC reforms don't tie India down into too many playing obligations.   Need to retain maximum freedom to play as much or as little cricket with partners - that's our leverage.   We will always make mountains of money anyway.
