Not quite. Majority of his bowling is in the 137-142 range and rarely does he hit 145. The thing that works for Shami is that he keeps bowling in the channel outside off and can keep testing the batsman. Express pace is not his top attribute.

Nobody here is just asking for a bowler with just express pace. You keep ignoring that point made by the posters here. Its decent pace with skills - accuracy, yorkers, bounce, swing/seam, slower balls and temperament ALL are required to succeed in LOI's.

Both Bhuvi and Bumrah are medium though.

Bhuvi can clocked 140+ at will even seen bowling at 146k and so as bumrah they are FAST mediums if not FAST, certainly not medium stop living in delusions [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

Let’s look into their international stats. I have doubts how Bumrah qualifies as fast-medium. Even cricinfo calls them ‘medium’. Cricbuzz too.

Umesh was the leading wicket taker for India in WC 2015. He was the 3rd on the list of top wicket takers.

Overall, his ODI record is pathetic and over a long period of time. He has the worst ER for this decade for any bowler that has bowled more than 2000 balls in ODI cricket:

Bumrah bowls 135 k to 145 k ( excluding slower balls )   in LOIs with good bounce. Can hit the deck hard and get bounce.

That is fast-medium atleast.

Also, don't ignore the ability to hit the deck hard and get bounce.... anyone who can do that is generally considered fast-medium even if he is slower than Bumrah.

So? That does not take away from the fact that he was the top bowler for India at the biggest stage. He was right on target in the previous WC  - pace, accuracy, bounce and swing. Umesh's problem has been his accuracy and that's the reason for his high ER in his overall record. But recently he has improved a lot in his accuracy. I am repeating it again because you seem to keep ignoring this point - just pace wont cut it at the international level, you need other skills to go with it. That holds true for just a swing bowler too.

Percentage of 140+ deliveries by Shami has increased significantly this season, in the last 10 test matches he has played.  He even hit 151 k in a test match in the West Indies last year.

This point was often being discussed on TV.

And, it is not just about release speeds, while deciding whether a bowler is fast or not.

Fast bowling is  also a bowling style.... whereby a bowler hits the deck hard and uses bounce ( along with pace ) or bowls quick yorkers,   to make the batsman uncomfortable. Shami does it more effectively than Umesh Yadav, who has quicker release speeds than him in general.

Head took apart phasttt yadav

Sandeep  took apart other team yesterday

Sandeep didn't bowl at death. Yadav also picked top order wickets upfront.

That's it. Nobody from the superfast brigade of Yadav, Aaron, etc.? How come they are not World beaters with all that pace?

Shami is as quick as Yadav Aaron now after his improvement in run-up.

Sandeep now bowling well at death. Turns the game around with wickets of Raina and Finch.

and phaast Aaron turns it back

Sandeep once again outbowling the much vaunted "phaast" bowlers such as Aaron, Thampi, Sangwan etc. and easily the best pacer of the match. Pity Punjab doesn't have anyone to support him else they would've made it to the playoffs
