Ultimate_Game Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Looks like Indian team aren't even being given decent practice facilities. And yet we bend over backwards to cater to "goras" and how we have to listen to "substandard" facilities, grounds or pitches when goras tour India. Here's the link to the article along with the quoted article... http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/champions-trophy-2017/top-stories/champions-trophy-india-unhappy-with-edgbaston-practice-facility/articleshow/58951024.cms BIRMINGHAM: The Indian cricket team today were unhappy with practice facilities at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground with both coach Anil Kumble and skipper Virat Kohli expressing their displeasure with the local authorities.Thursday was India's first training day in Birmingham ground and they were allocated the practice arena adjacent to main stadium. However both Kohli and Kumble had reservations as the arena was small in size. The main issue was the run-up for fast bowlers. It was learnt that the likes of Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya, all of whom have a 30-yard run-up, couldn't bowl full tilt at the nets as the distance wasn't big enough. This irked the captain and the coach as they sent feelers through manager Kapil Malhotra to sort the issue out with Warwickshire (local county) authorities. Apparently, the Indian team wanted to practice at the main arena but were denied a chance as Australia and New Zealand, who have a match tomorrow, were given access to the main ground. The Pakistan team also practised at the same ground but since they have been camping in Birmingham for the past week, have had access to the main practice arena. India will only get a feel of the main turf on Saturday, prior to the marquee clash. GoldenSun 1
Forever Indian Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Obviously if another team is having a match before India they will get the first hit on the main practise wickets.
chewy Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Team management should have found more suitable facilities nearby, plenty of cricket grounds everywhere in england...sending out feelers with only two days to match, lol seems more like inept team logistics as usual from Indian team management Lannister 1

Also, I do find it odd that India wasn't given a practice match at the venue whereas Pak got two. Unfair advantage IMO. sandeep 1

IIRC in certain horse races, if a horse is favored to win by a wide margin, they made the horse race carrying a bunch of weight to try and level the odds.
Khota Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 If pakistan got two matches there and India has to travel and all that it is a big deal. ECB screwed it up. They need to provide better facility. Ultimate_Game 1

Neither were bowler friendly wickets .We even scored 330+ against Bangladesh without Kohli Yuvi or Dhaoni . But weather was cloudy and hence had help for seamers. Are you suggesting England conspired to create cloudy weather when India are playing ? chewy, sandeep and MCcricket 3

Pakistan are 8th . South Africa are the No.1 ranked team. Tell me which team should we prefer to have advantage against when we play them ? chewy and sandeep 2

Day in day out if you have to deal with them you will understand. It is fun to deny them their moment in sun. Ultimate_Game 1

Maybe true...but considering the resources BCCI has, they should have had A to Z details of facilities, grounds, and logistics sorted well in one month advance But as always too many incompetent managers and planners in the team and BCCI, happy to sit on the gravy team Ultimate_Game 1
mishra Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Pakistan reached their early, Got the better facilities. England cant have said, No you cant use it because India will be coming in few weeks. Or neither Pakistan will leave the occupied zone
