Although they did relay the Guyana track and its now a proper road. But even that will not suit Sandeep Sharma's bowling. His pace and the dhoos tracks of the windies, will allow the Sean Paul wannabes to hack him all over the park. I'd rather give the opportunity to a Basil/Nathu and see what they are made of. Sangwan and Unadkat are left-armers, and I want to see a decent left-arm paceman added to the options-kit for Skipper VK. What about the rest of the squad? Doesn't matter whether the pitches might or might not help him. Let's see what he can actually do. He deserves a shot based on his consistent performances and it's only fair he be given a chance. We all thought he would be hammered in IPl as well yet he wasn't and hasn't been over the last 3-4 IPLs. He has somehow always performed even when he wasn't supposed to. Basil wasn't anywhere close to be given India cap and there are others who are ahead of him. sandeep 1

Didn't watch a lot of him, but he has the right aura about him. Just an unsubstantiated hunch at this point, but still...

He almost always leaked runs and his overall ER this IPL was 10+. you could see he isn't ready yet and needs more time. At the end of the day performances need to be rewarded else what message are you sending domestic players? That the only way to get ahead is to pray and hope that coach or captain takes a shine to you? I can understand that if there are two fast bowlers in the fray, say A and B. A has slightly better stats but B is quicker that you go for B. But it only works if A and B's stats are in the same ballpark (say within 2-3). I don't mind B getting a chance first if he averages 25 instead of A's 23. But when A's stats are heads and shoulders above B then A should be given a shot first. I mean if A has outplayed B in domestic tourney despite B having more pace and speed, how exactly will B suddenly outperform A at the next level with the same skill sets? Yes we should keep an eye out for potential but at the same time not ignore our top performers altogether. As Rahane & Rayudu over Jadhav has shown us that domestic performances are still a pretty good guidance regarding the players.

I'm not up to date on the top pacers based on domestic performances. Just going off of what I saw.
King Tendulkar Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Unadkat is crap . Let's not even go there about him playing for India . I don't care how many wickets gets in ipl he will be rubbish playing in big boy games express bowling 1

He fooled lots of batsmen with his slower ones and if he can do so at intl level that's all what matters. Maybe Unadkat picked up something this IPL that really is tough to read and made him successful just like Bravo's slower ones or Fizz's change of pace. WI is the best place to see that but he shouldn't be picked for any other format. 2 minutes ago, King Tendulkar said: Pace matters at international level . Can't go just by stats and crap ipl . I would try Sandeep and se how he does. By the way Sandeep and Unadkat should not be grouped together. Sandeep has performed consistently over the last 3-4 years, including IPLs whereas Unadkat only had one good IPL.

Problem is, BCCI will probably send Rahane as Captain that will push out samson/iyer out of the XI/Squad. And probably select a couple of older players who have very good domestic numbers as a reward for their performance. It is a good squad IF the BCCI plans to try out only inexperienced players. Shankar will have to come in at 5.... he is a proper batsman. I would replace Unadkat and Sangwan with Siraj and Thakur vishalvirsingh 1
Tibarn Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I want to see either KL Rahul or Manish Pandey get a long rope at #4 starting this series. I can live with Yuvraj for the CT, but he surely can't be in our plans for the next world cup right? Rahul and Manish need a chance to battle it out for the spot. sandeep 1

The last time unadkat went to zimb his pace was down and he gave 43 runs in 4 overs and no wkt If thats his condition against a minnow god help us What the point of a slower one if ur top speed is so less express bowling 1
express bowling Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Tour just 8 days away.... still no squad announced.... prospective pacers all attending NCA camp during this time Looks like the CT squad will go with maybe 1 or 2 changes.

TBH I didn't think he had it in him but his slower deliveries really fooled almost all the batsmen he came across. Needs to be seen whether it works in T20Is or not. If it does that's a great weapon to have similar to Bravo or Fizz's slower ones.

Bravo was no trundler intially and still is quite experienced which our unadkat lacks on international circuit express bowling, speedheat and Mosher 3

Bravo was no trundler intially and still is quite experienced which our unadkat lacks on international circuit It doesn't matter as long as it works. Some bowlers have a very deceptive action and it's a struggle to read them. Who knows Unadkat has that skill coz this IPL I didn't see even one batsman picking him up. Such a skill, if it really works, is a priceless asset. Unadkat didn't play the first two matches and still ended up with 24 or so wkts. There has to be a reason for the same and I would love to see if that's due to some new trick he has developed. I'm not the one to write off folks who have improved and performed and bilateral T20Is are the best matches to learn about the same. i mean what's there to lose? If Unadkat gets hit around in T20Is and India loses a T20I - big deal. But what if he really has developed a killer slower one which is very difficult for batsmen to read? That's an invaluable skill to have.
