The last few games have proven your team is not the best team going around. Also how many of those were oversea victories? You mentioned " shocking performances " by India. I pointed out that we are a very consistent team in the last 20 months. and going through a good phase in our cricket. Now, why are you going to " Australia-like-dominance " ? Did I mention such dominance ? The main thing is that Indian team is doing very well nowadays. Under_Score, Sidhoni, GoldenSun and 1 other 4

When I said "shocking performances" I ment getting losses to teams you considered minnows. Some losses are part and parcel of playing the game of cricket. I am not aware of any team that has won every match. Even the great West Indian team of 1983 lost twice to the " then ODI minnow ", India .... and this Indian team is not of that standard yet. Quote Yeah and they have been. But just like any other team they can be beaten. Which is why I see no point of playing down other teams to make yours feel superior due to one off games in major ICC tournaments. When I made that statement I was trying to make a point. You have forgotten your original post to which I replied and quoted our 11-0 record in World Cups and World T20s. Here it is, to refresh your memory ---- " Than came the Champions Trophy final where we gave you the biggest defeat in any final. All the past defeats got avenged by that. " My point was that our 11 -0 record in World Cups and World T20s does not get avenged by a single final win in a 3rd rung tournament. Now, debate on this topic if you want but don't forget the topic and go to other points Edited July 12, 2017 by express bowling Laaloo, Vilander, Under_Score and 2 others 5

someone Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Team form heading towards WC has no bearing. We had disaster Australia tour, yet we did very well in 2015 WC. Pakistan were in disaster form this Champions Trophy, but they won it. So World Cup is a lottery, if big players do their job, India will go very far there.

RAZPOR Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 This generation of Indian cricket has the ability to become the most dominant, but we have many off field issues and certain egos to deal with before we can truly achieve the potential, alas. Not to mention the constant selection goof ups. express bowling 1

No minnow wins a Champions Trophy final against a number 3 team and that to convincingly. Don't care where we defeat you. A ICC event final plus India vs Pakistan pressure game is easily most highest form of pressure we will ever face. So your argument of winning a World Cup game is a moot point. As its pressure compared to this one is very little. I am not calling the team minnow,i am calling the mentality of making it seem like be all and end all as 'minnow'. And this is not the first ICC final or semi final involving India-pak,so get a hold of yourself. Many teams have won CT including SA,NZ and WI recently, didn't hep them much in WCs. Consistency is the key,India has that over a long period in ICC tourneys, even in an off tourney we reach Semis, can't say that about Pakistan. GoldenSun 1

Yeah well your recent performances does not make your team Australia of 2000s either. Its just as bad as any other team. The recent performances proved you have no right to call another team a minnow against you. We have a better record in head to head matches. If there is anyone who needs to stop show boating about once in a blue moon victory its you. The past few years of defeat have been one off matches. Not some series that decides what team is truly better in what year. Rankings are made of matches with you playing other teams not Pakistan. Also what part of that "We don't need those greats if we can beat your current team" did you not understand? We beat your current team did we not? Unless you wanna dodge facts and make excuses for a shambolic performance in the final. We beat you without those greats and we can again. Time moves on. As long as there is cricket there is talent. So don't count us out again. past few years have been one off and last one match has been the norm ok. Adi_91 and express bowling 2

In there we are superior. These World Cup games and Champion Trophy games are meaningless. They are like a one time honeymoon. The real head to head record is timeless. Saying that they are meaningless is classic " Sour grapes " syndrome. In life, it is always about quality and never about quantity. Edited July 13, 2017 by express bowling Under_Score and GoldenSun 2

They are not the same. Pak home games and Sharja games can not be considered actually, sorry :) you guys cheat.

However that does not discount the fact it was a one off game. The real record that matters is the head to head one. dude without trolling for one. head to head comprises of games in Sharja and pak the cheated in games - so it has very little value. historical head to head is not a stat that is seen anywhere because its not relevant to start with. The only reason 11-0 gets quoted is because its a streak. With the added value of sharja and pak home umpires and volumes written on them the head to head with pak means very little for people outside pak. I understand that being a pakistani you would like to clutch on to any straw available, but there you have it the truth and somehow you will have to face up to it. your team sucks most of the times when it matters.

Since one off games hold no value in the context of the game. Which most of these victories are. So if there is no streak or head to head record it means we are not minnows anymore. Thank you very much streak has value because pak did not win any, if they win one the streak not only ends but becomes of very little value as a stat, like head to head across different teams in different times - just a stat.

Shaiji... tell me honestly, how many fans are even aware of head-to-head records between countries ? What becomes important to them are the recent performances of their teams and the big matches their teams have played. For example --- the West Indies has excellent head-to-head records against all countries.... but does anyone rate them nowadays and are their fans excited about their team ?

Now every Indian fan will wet there pants when they are facing us. This victory surely dented the Indian mentality of considering us minnows. Our story is no different than the Lagaan movie. You guys are the rich goras while we are the poor villagers who have a thing to prove. And we did it in the final. Sarfraz our Amir Khan captained like a tiger. Recent performances do not mean the last match only. Depending on the memory of the person involved and how seriously he watches the game.... it may range between the last 1 year to the last 3 years. It also depends on the how long the current core of players are playing at their peak. Indian fans do not think that much about the Pakistan cricket team. When the issue arises due to an upcoming match, the general impression among the public in the last few years is that India is a much better cricket team than Pakistan nowadays. Also, there is a lot of confidence among people arising from our ever improving economy and the ensuing change in attitude. There is a feeling that we will keep on getting better as a team. Fans are not really afraid of any team. Sarfraz is being seen as a good captain but unless your team performs with consistency, impression about your team won't change drastically based on just one tournament. This is because, the Pakistani team is known for producing amazing highs and amazing lows. Edited July 13, 2017 by express bowling Under_Score 1
