Ankit_sharma03
Parthiv Patel has been called-up to the India A squad ahead of the second unofficial Test against New Zealand A in Vijayawada. He's been brought in as cover for Rishabh Pant, who has a fever. Pant has been advised rest, but his illness isn't very serious, according to a BCCI official, and the decision to have reinforcement was precautionary, considering there was no other full-time wicket-keeper in the 15-member squad. Sudip Chatterjee, the Bengal batsman, kept wickets in Pant's brief absence on the third day of the first Test last week. Meanwhile, Parthiv's inclusion is perhaps an indication of the selectors' decision to look at options for the second wicketkeeper, behind Wriddhiman Saha, ahead of the South Africa tour in January. http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/20836302/parthiv-joins-india-squad-cover-pant Where is Sanju Samson????? Is there no other young emerging keeper in the country???? Edited September 27, 2017 by Ankit_sharma03 Link to comment

He is the future. Why you will select a PP for A team. Still Kishan should have been selected or Samson. Link to comment

You need to grab every opportunity you get when you need to break out...tournaments like Duleep trophy make you stand out. Sure IPL makes you a household name and Ranji trophy lays foundation for other opportunities but it is these Deodhar,Vijay Hazare,Duleep Trophy etc is what get you that much closer. I like Kishen and he deserves more opportunities than a ttf like Pappu but it is what it is. Link to comment

What exposure does he need? Link to comment

sandeep
So much hate on Pappu. He's done nothing but score runs and lead Gujarat to a title. Came in and did an excellent job with the bat against England as well. 'Keeping is still crap though. I don't think there's anything wrong with selecting Parthiv as the 2nd wicketkeeper for the SA tour. He's still got a year or 2 left where he can be a stop-gap contributor to the national team. And its not like the young ones are covering themselves in glory either. Link to comment

But if you are going to select him for SA tour, then you want to give him maximum practice at top level cricket, no? Agree that 'future' prospects should be given priority in 'A' team selection, but you have to make sure that you don't end up de-motivating "current" prospects, who you may need to call up for short-term duty. Its not an easy balance to strike, and we shouldn't criticize it as if it was a total black-and-white 'mistake'. Link to comment
Rasgulla
So India won the match and ICF hype boy pant was impressive with 1 Run and people wonder why he isn't selected 2 and 1 is his score in 4th and 5th ODI Link to comment
