express bowling
Most teams nowadays are trying to play multiple allrounders. This policy is effective if such players deserve to be in the team based purely on atleast one of the disciplines, batting, bowling or keeping .... and the other discipline is additive. Ashwin and Jadeja are good examples of this ... they would be in our test team while playing in Asia, even if they could not bat. Mitchell Marsh in test matches is an ideal example of someone who can neither bat nor bowl and should not have played 21 tests, but has done so as a " potential all-rounder ". This is the type which should be discouraged and Ashwin-type allrounders encouraged. We have quite a few all-rounders already playing for India or doing well in FC and List A. TESTs Batting-allrounders for tests Hardik Pandya - pacer / big-hitter New - Vijay Shankar - pacer / big-hitter Washington Sundar - spinner Bowling-allrounders for tests Ashwin - spinner Jadeja - spinner / big-hitter Jayant Yadav - spinner New - Axar - spinner Gowtham - spinner / big-hitter Karn - spinner Nagarkoti - pacer Bowlers who can bat somewhat - tests Bhuvi - pacer LOIs Batting-allrounders for LOIs Hardik Pandya - pacer / big-hitter New - Shankar - pacer / big-hitter Krunal - spinner / big-hitter Washington Sundar - spinner / big-hitter Gowtham - spinner / big-hitter Bowling-allrounders for LOIs Axar - spinner / big-hitter Jadeja - spinner New - Karn - spinner Nagarkoti - pacer Bowlers who can bat somewhat - LOIs Bhuvi - pacer Shardul - pacer / big-hitter Batsman who can bowl somewhat - LOIs Kedar - spinner Getting a couple of new batting-allrounders in our LOI teams, like Shankar, Krunal, Gowtham ..... would lend a lot of balance to our team. Please discuss what you know about the new all-rounders. Edited October 16, 2017 by express bowling Rightarmfast, maniac and tweaker 3 Link to comment
Vk1
I would blame the Aussie pitches for Mitch marsh failure. Only genuine bowlers can pick wickets on those highways and that too during new ball periods. Link to comment

Mitch Marsh bats at 6 , so batting is his primary discipline, but averages 21 with the bat after 21 tests. Link to comment
express bowling
This is the area which is very critical for our team Batting-allrounders for LOIs Hardik Pandya - pacer / big-hitter New - Shankar - pacer / big-hitter Krunal - spinner / big-hitter Washington Sundar - spinner / big-hitter Gowtham - spinner / big-hitter Link to comment

Khota
It is hard to find all rounders. Odds of finding a spin/batting combo is higher than pace/batting. In last 50 years India had only one genuine aall rounder so why waste time on something that is just not there. Link to comment

Ishantboyz
i think when r ashwin can perform outside india then we have a really good allrounder on our hands Link to comment
Texan
Is Karn referring to Karn Sharma? If so, then his batting cannot be classified as good enough for being called an allrounder. He is more like a bowler who bats a little, similar to Kuldeep Yadav. Link to comment

We used to have Sachin, Sourav, Yuvi, Sehwag, Raina .... batsmen who could bowl somewhat and be the 6th bowler ... but now there is only Kedar Link to comment

He is medium-fast as of today but can hit the deck hard and has a good bouncer. He has also said that he is working hard on increasing his pace and if Bhuvi could then even he can : ) Edited October 17, 2017 by express bowling mancalledsting 1 Link to comment

All I am saying is there is no need to spend so much energy for something elusive. If you get a allrounder once in 50 years the odds are low to find one. Moreover cricket is a speciality sport and there is no room for part timers. Link to comment

Yes we have more pacers and plenty of pacers but only one allrounder that I can think of. Link to comment

All of our batsmen are prima donnas who refuse to bowl or learn how to do so. Rohit used to bowl but he gave up. Link to comment
