You mean luxury like what Simon Doull mentioned today that Tendulkar and co used to bat on Indian pitches which were more flat than what we see today?  Simon Doull is one blunt guy. He bowled on these Indian pitches so he knows what he is talking I guess.

Doull never played a Test in India. I think we had a fair amount of bowler friendly pitches in the 90s whereas the pitches in the 00s were definitely flatter than the ones we have had in this decade.

Lol, wut? I am saying that openers have given good starts and he has found himself in positions where he can score fast to set targets. Not trying to save games

An opener or a no.6 batsman with high SR and good average is a match winner. For rest of the positions, yes SR is notuch imp.
