How the hell is he a passenger

HAs made runs, taken wkts , fielded well .

Nobody has been consistent this series, he is new and we have to keep patience with him. Lets hold our opinon as everyone has struggled here

And as few of us have said here before have pandya n shankar both overseas and play them acc to surfaces

Flat- pandya

seamer friendly track- shankar

3 wickets at avg of 48 on these tracks is very part timer type stuff.

he hasnt even bowled much and again if we look at his runs n wkts alone they dont look much but if we combine thats when it looks better

Unfortunately we dnt even have a part timers

In Sa the 5th bowler wasnt needed much but Eng n Aus will have flat wkts and 5th bowler will be needed

Op does not understand cricket and pitches

in these crazy tracks 3 Bowlers are enough . So don’t need 5 lol

but when back to normal test crixket like say oz . Pitches are flat and hard work . We will then need pandya as 5th bowler to bowl  lots of overs , like he did well in test 2 . Then 5th bowler needs to be able to bat properly ie all rounder . Hence pandya . Pandya will also be exevellent bat on better tracks

you guys go from game to game making knee jerk reactions . Pandya was our mom in 1 st test

Problem isn't his bowling, if he is 5th bowling option, he is only required to keep things tight.

Problem is his approach to batting, his idol must be Shahid Khan Afridi: the way he tried to play his shots. That approach will fail more than often if bowlers have a plan for you. He does have potential, no doubt, but his temperament is not made for test team ranked #1.

No his approach to batting is good . What approach anyone should do on these pitches is anyone’s guess lol

Afridi could not have batted like he did in first test

pandya does not slog . He plays aggressive yes . But generally pure quality cricket shots

5 bats + Keeper + 4 pacers + Ashwin  -- Thats the team format that needs to be followed for Eng/Aus tours. Pandya isn't ready for the big stage.

Bhuvaneshwar is a much more sensible and reliable batter at this time. So I would prefer to play him as the bowling all-rounder (with Ashwin for added depth in the lower order). Pandya has too many brain fades in all aspects of his game to be a consistent member of the XI at this time (his runout attempt of Ngidi was ridiculous as he almost made it next to the stumps only to throw the ball and miss them altogether when he could have easily knocked of the bails). His knock in the first test is also being over-hyped imo. He survived a few dropped chances earlier on so he did get lucky.

He is a very strong candidate for the LOI side but definitely not ready for test cricket yet.
