Straight Drive
BATSMEN: VIRAT ,ABD ,SARFRAZ , MCCULLUM, MANDEEP SINGH, MANAN VOHRA, ANIRUDHA JOSHI, PAVAN DESHPANDE WICKET KEEPERS: QUINTON, PARTHIV PATEL ALL ROUNDERS: WOAKES ,WASHINGTON SUNDAR ,CDG ,MOEEN, YUZVENDRA CHAHAL, PAWAN NEGI BOWLERS: UMESH YADAV, NAVDEEP SAINI , SIRAJ ,MURUGAN ASHWIN ,NCN ,TIM SOUTHEE ,KULWANT KHEJROLIYA, ANIKET CHOUDHARY I think the playing 11 would be as follows: MANDEEP SINGHQUINTON VIRATABD SARFRAZWOAKES (Woakes as first choice. CDG / MOEEN as backup options) PAVAN NEGISOUTHEE (NCN is injured) WASHINGTON SUNDAR YUZVENDRA CHAHAL UMESH YADAV / NAVDEEP SAINI / SIRAJ What the team gets: (1) Attacking openers. (Virat gets some cover from new ball. Mandeep can be given role of quick scorer) (2) Strong middle order as well as depth in batting upto No. 9. NCN can play cameos, Sundar can bat a bit) (3) Pace attack of 3 bowlers (NCN, Yadav & Woakes. NCN is a strike bowlers as opener and bowls at good pace in 140's. Umesh Yadav is weak link. Woakes will give 4 overs most of the times. Reliable spin combination) What do you think the playing 11 would be ? Mosher
My 11 Vohra Quinton Kohli AB Sarfaraz Woakes or CDG - Will be a difficult choice. Woakes is the better bowler while CDG can smash the ball around in the middle order. NCN Sundar Negi Chahal Siraj/Umesh/Kulwant
Straight Drive
I think Negi will play. Virat played him in last few matches very frequently and Negi performed well with bat or ball or both at times. He is often injury prone and has backs tress fractures iirc. Will miss this IPL.
jusarrived
Moeen Ali (AR ) PP ( WK-Bat ) Virat ( Bat ) AB ( Bat ) Anirudha Joshi/ Pavan ( Bat ) Sarfaraz ( Bat ) Sundar (AR ) Woakes ( AR ) NCN ( Pace ) Chahal ( Spin ) Kulwant/Saini (Pace ) Batting till no 8 . Spin options - Chahal , Moeen , Sundar . Pace - NCN , Kulwant , Woakes I will play this combination for first 4-5 matches , Joshi/Pavan are bit off unknown but are big hitters at domestic level and being home ground for both ..if they do well , will add to balance of side . I like Moen at the top of order over QDK . PP another experiment for few matches .

Southee opens the bowling and bowls in last overs for NZ in T20. So they have a perfect fit to one of their issues since Starc left . Southee has been very successful recently in last few months. Bowling on Indian wickets though is different ball game, but RCB wicket was very good one for bowlers last year. I know Southee does bowl in the end overs, but I don't think he is a very adept T20 bowler, especially on Indian pitches. Southee is a swing bowler, who has usually done well at home compared to abroad. But, I agree that perhaps one int'l pacer would be necessary since the 3 I mentioned are all mostly untried at highest level.

Nowadays he is picking a good number of wickets on short pitched stuff, wherein West Indian and Pakistani batters failed to keep the hook and pull down. He got good bounce. He may flop in IPL as wickets are different, but still they will have to pick some international bowler for the sake of boosting their fragile pace attack since Starc bid goodbye. And RCB has to fill the void left by Starc two years back. Tymal Mills R&D boomeranged. Think Southee is sure shot considering what they will look to fill their short comings in pace department.
