Straight Drive
India play 2 T20i versus Ireland in June. 3 versus England in July. With the IPL we will have new players who will justify selection in playing 11.Some have already put their hands up. Who should be the playing 11 for these T20i series versus Ireland and England. ? And probably it's time to realize not all ODI players have power hitting for T20. A reason why our international T20 team is underperforming since we first won the T20 cup (Thanks Misbah and Joginder and Harby). Yes, a lot of players in ODI can step up to T20 but there certainly need to be few T20 specialists who are better suited for this format. Link to comment

He's someone who has the ability to hit sixes from the get go and he has shown that in this IPL striking at the rate 160+. Dhawan one of the top most ODI batsman, india 2nd best in odi currently. Check his recent record in t20 he has become a diff player Dhoni is an ATG of ODi So dnt even compare mandeep to those two, those two have not only played international bowler but done exceptionally well In t20 those 2 scored runs in Sa Now the last time mandeep played against an international team , was against eng in warmup game of a flat deck .....n mind u that eng was a poor attack.....against whom yuvraj scored 150. HE cudnt even touch the ball in that match Mandeep is a poorer version of suresh raina n ur putting his name against dhoni n dhawan, he wudnt be able to touch SA bowlers in international cricket Link to comment
Khota
Selecting team now is stupid. Wait for IPL to be over and announce the team a week before. Tell everyone that all positions are open. I wish India had a real coach who understood sports. Link to comment

One would mistake them for tailenders. Yes, Dhawan has improved lately, but he's still a huge liability when there's something in the pitch for bowlers. You can say he's is a poorer version of Kohli, where both lack the ability to hit hard. Both KL and Pant are natural with the way they generate power. They can easily get you scores of 12+ runs per over during powerplays. Mandeep's strike rate is easily the best from RCB's team. And he's scoring those runs while batting in the middle order when the field is mostly spread out and he's also very consistent. I'd say he deserves chance if you go by the merits. Link to comment

Good luck finding such pitches in LOI, n mandeep wud look a tailender on such pitch.....i can bet on that Both KL and Pant are natural with the way they generate power. I have included him as a 6th bowler not a fill time option. Sundar could open the innings with Kock, but alas Kohli is not known for such out-of-the-box thinking. Link to comment

Karthik did and wether we like it or not he is way ahead now . A young player getting a lot of chances also depends on needs of the team , like pandya was a need so team had no option but to invest, in case of dhoni the team needed a wk batsman so they were ready to invest in him to at this pant has dhoni n karthik in line ahead of him, so he ll have to make count of watever lil chances he gets and specially with such captain who takes time develop faith in youngsters. Karthik has been very average since then. Dont remember a single good innings from him this IPL. It shows how competitive and intense IPL is in comparison to T20Is. T20 internationals are low quality cricket where mostly B-C teams play. One game cant decide whether he is way ahead or not. Edited April 28, 2018 by rkt.india Link to comment
