It has been tough last few weeks for Virat Kohli as he sustained a neck injury during the IPL, and his team Royal Challengers Bangalore couldn’t qualify for the playoffs. His untimely injury meant that Kohli would not be able to play County cricket before the England tour starts.
But the Indian batting sensation is leaving no stone unturned to return to full fitness. On Tuesday, Kohli posted a video on Twitter and shared his current injury status. In the video he said, "Hey guys, a lot of hard work is going on. The rehab is on and just doing what I can do best and what I am allowed to do at the moment. Hard work is the only way and hard work always pays off."He will undergo a fitness test on June 15 in Bangalore, a day after India starts their Test against debutants Afghanistan.
Initially there was some confusion pertaining to Kohli’s injury as a slip disk was suspected. But later BCCI in a press release cleared the issue.
The release said, "Team India Captain Mr Virat Kohli suffered a neck injury while fielding during Match 51 of the VIVO IPL between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad on 17th May 2018 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Mr Kohli, who was scheduled to play for Surrey CCC in the month of June, has been ruled out from participating.”
"This decision was taken following assessments by the BCCI Medical team, subsequent scans, and a specialist visit. The Team India captain will now undergo a period of rehabilitation under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team.”
"He will begin training and subsequently undergo a fitness test at the NCA in Bengaluru from June 15. The BCCI Medical Team is confident that Mr Kohli will regain full fitness ahead of India's upcoming tours to Ireland and England."
Since 2016, Kohli has played 134 matches, making him busiest player in the world. Whereas in 2017 alone, he appeared in nine Tests, 29 ODIs and 9 T20Is.

Virat Kohli hits nets, goes through light training

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/india-in-england/virat-kohli-hits-nets-goes-through-light-training/articleshow/64393964.cms

“He’s begun with a relatively lighter stint at the indoor nets. In a couple of days, he’ll be back on the field and by the end of the first two weeks (of June) – around the15th – he’ll be in Bangalore for the fitness test and to begin training,” a source said.

Contrary to the “highly exaggerated reports” surrounding Kohli’s injury and all the speculation around it, BCCI sources said Kohli had to avoid the Surrey stint only to ensure he remains fully fit for the tour of England.

“Surrey was an option; the England tour is a responsibility. He’s taken a break whenever there was a need for it. That’s why he sat out of the last T20 in South Africa and did not play in the Nidahas Trophy. It shows that priorities are well in place. It's unfortunate that Virat hasn't been able to leave for Surrey but recovering fully in time is the more important thing,” the source added.

Get fit for test series...no need to play LOIs. We already have enough players to beat Poms in LOIs. Let Pant replace him.

I don't care about the JAMODIs but English ODI team is far improved. I would pencil them down to make it to the semifinal in the WC.

This really. He should not play any more bilaterals against Lanka/BD/WI etc. Quite pointless as we need to manage his workload

he should skip t-20s from now on...and only play odis and tests.....even smith did the same.

What is the injury? If herniated disc then he could be easily out for year. If it was just spasms he probably is OK. I hope they know what they are doing.
