As per Espncricinfo:

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the first part of the five-match England Test series, starting on August 1. ESPNcricinfo understands that Bumrah has still not recovered from the thumb injury he suffered during India's first match of the UK tour, their opening T20 against Ireland last month.

As per Espncricinfo:

Bumrah is likely to be left out of the Test squad, which will be released by the BCCI on Wednesday. It is is understood the selectors have opted to include the left-arm wristspinner Kuldeep Yadav, who made such an impact in the T20 and ODIs against England, and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who gets a maiden Test call. Also making a comeback is Indian strike bowler Mohammed Shami, who had to sit out the majority of the IPL due to a hamstring injury.

As per Espncricinfo,,:

The selectors are also understood to have overlooked Rohit Sharma, who scored two centuries in the limited-overs leg of the England series. Rohit was in contention for the middle-order role, but a patchy series in South Africa left the selectors and team management unsatisfied. Rohit was dropped from the one-off Afghanistan Test in June. Karun Nair is likely to be handed the extra batsman slot.

So Rohit's Test career is over.
Or will Kohli consider the friendship and include him too?

What a clusterfcuk this is becoming.

Bhuvi seems to be off the boil after injury.

Bumrah injured and out of series.

Shami personal issues most likely he'd not be at his best.

Unsettled batting line up. Don't think anyone even knows who are our 5 best test batsmen are. Rahul-Rahane both could be in the XI, or both may miss out. Dhawan/Vijay/Pujara/Rohit .. there's a chance all 4 could be in the XI, there's also a chance 2 of them might not even make the squad.

Thing is it's not lack of personnel. India has enough of really good players to work with. The team management (selectors, coach, captain) is either incompetent or biased or both.

India should have had a settled squad before embarking on tough and exciting year of away test cricket in SA, Eng, Aus. There was a chance to make history. SA already gone, a wasted opportunity. The way things are looking, we may get a phainty in Eng.
