Pujara doesn't have the defense of a Dravid, even Laxman and Ganguly had better defense against pacers, that in a time when bowlers were much better and conditions much worse.

1)  I was talking about developing any middle order test batsman to  ( replace Pujara outside Asia if needed ) .  The quality of that batsman ( outside Asia ) won't be known to us until he plays tests outside Asia. But, having a good off-stump game and good back-foot game would be a start.

 

Nair is there but he has not been developed properly.

 

 

2)  As you can see below , there are so many Indian batters with good to decent averages outside Asia. Pujara has been rather poor in this respect.

Rahul recently got tons of promo under his name....he has got a bank ad+Miss India assignment+ loads of Mag covers after shifting to Bunty's.
However, the response towards him has been absolutely scathing!!!

Rahane averages 52.7 in tests outside Asia and Rohit averages 23.9.

Ind has bigger problems to consider than worrying about Pujara’s SR in overseas tests .... SR, in tests, are usually for bowlers

Watching Pujara bats in test reminds me how fast dravid was batting. He just seems to have only one gear block, block, leave, block, leave, bowled. 

This is the pattern he is following. Should be his last series if this continues.
