now that japan is in the hockey finals.  who gets the olympic qualifying spot now? if malaysia automatically gets it being in the finals, then the loss for India makes it even worse.

ind pak bronze medal?

Malaysia gets the spot irrespective of what happens in the final now.

We need a miracle to make it to the Tokyo Olympics in hockey now :((.

Japan (host) and Malaysia (Asian Games 2018) have qualified.

Pan American Games....1 spot mostly Argentina (defending champs)

Euro Hockey....1 spot, say Netherlands (DC)

Oceania Cup...1 spot, say Australia (DC)

African Cup... say South Africa (DC)

Olympic Qualification event...6 spots, teams = Belgium, Germany, India, England, NZ, Spain, Ireland, Canada, South Korea, Pakistan, others

Big chance we may miss out.

As an Indian supporter pray that Australia wins Oceania Cup, Argentina Pan-Am, one of the top European teams (Netherlands/Germany/Belgium) the Euro Cup. If NZ, Canada, England etc  qualify via those events the top dogs will enter the final event to spoil India's chances. We have *ed up really bad here, all we needed was a spot in the final.

The men's relay team won silver in the 4x400m race losing out to the team from Qatar.

If Japan pulls off an upset, then that spot will actually be added to the qualification tournament I heard on TV today.

Same goes for Women's hockey today, wherein Indian women will not earn an automatic entry into the Tokyo 2020, by virtue of Asian Games runners-up.

We will need to go through the qualification tournament.
