I think it is a different variety of pineapple.

It is roundy curvy.

The one we get here is longish.

I replied in hope. I even got one that was very ripe, that was v soft on the outer shelll as well. As said, it is a different variety. Might get in some of Asian food stores here. I will try.

Certain Chinese cuisines have this cooking method of dipping their fruits and veggies in vinegar overnight. Maybe that is why they can be so finely cut. I am just guessing here.
