This looks to be more a Saha selection than a Pant rejection.. playing at home with 6 batsman + 2 spinners who are more than handy with the bat, you don't necessarily need a wicketkeeper's contribution with the bat as well... Kohli probably just went with the best keeper, given that batting is covered..

 

It sucks that Pant has to sit out, but if the rationale was the above, I don't see much wrong with it.. I only hope that the management has spoken to Pant, set expectations with him and laid out a roadmap for his future..

Saha's keeping standards have been ridiculously high.. He is hands down the best keeper in the Indian side..

 

Pant vs Saha decisions, at least in near term would likely be made on whether you want to beef up batting or play your best keeper..

i think Saha has just reminded all of India that in terms of pure keeping ability he is the undisputed number 1.

 

If India are going to be so dominant at home that Saha's batting is not going to be an issue for a while....
