To look at the glass as half full, at-least Pant gets a break for a little bit. If he plays and gets out cheaply, the brouhaha will be unbearable. Instead of being sad, Pant should invest time in fixing the flaws in his game.

Nothing against Saha but  they could have kept Pant as pure batsmen than instead of Sharma ji, afterall Last 12 months
Rishabh Pant has scored just 10 Test runs lesser than Virat Kohli and batted 1 innings lesser than him @ Average 53.81.

It could even be argued that this move is to protect Rishabh from going down the Parthiv Patel track.   Keeping to spinners in India is not easy.   A few mistakes and the heat on Pant would be crazy, not to mention the risk of knocking out his confidence and derailing his long-term development. 

 

I'm not arguing this mind you - just pointing out that this argument exists.  This entire Rishabh saga has been extremely mishandled by the management.  Because even if you wanted to bench him for test cricket, there was still no justification for the big PR smears on him over the last few weeks.
