This Lankan is a troll but his stats are correct.

Applying OP's logic retrospectively how many years should we have languished in tier-II? Australia is the greatest cricket nation on the planet, even they were never this condescending towards lesser teams.

Tell you what, if India stays at #1 for the next 10 years inflicting whitewashes every time home and overseas plus winning all ICC trophies till 2027 WC undefeated....then we can talk. Not based on underachieving and being so low (historically) in a sport with limited competition, despite 1.3 billion population with huge middle class pop, BCCI $$$,  improving infra/coaching, largest talent pool for any sport and for all practical purposes still a one sport country.

Finally a stat we should care about and genuinely look to improve upon. Wonder what this table was like before Kohli took over:facepalm:

I have to say after the advent of T20, many of the bottom ranked teams simply just don't care anymore about Test Cricket. And it simply shows in the way they play and the results we see.

Only the rich teams with slightly more cash on their hands continue to be interested in this. SA has been draining all their talent to England and they have regressed steadily and after a point they have stopped caring anymore. The rest of the asian teams are pathetic as well.

Pakistan will whitewash Australia at home/UAE so they deserve to play Tests.

I don't think so. They lost to Sri Lanka and New Zealand in the UAE. They couldn't handle rookies like Sommerville and Ajaz Patel.

Australia would atleast draw the series in UAE now that Smith and Warner are back.

What happens if Australia , England  are in different tiers, will they play Ashes. What about India series with those teams.

How will you view those stats. We all saw , Pakistani batsmen becoming Bradmans by playing hapless Zimbabwe

No. They won't play the Ashes. And if they want to, they can play it outside the championship.

You can bet your bottom dollar.Like death and taxes, Ashes will happen no matter what, that is their major revenue maker. Is Ashes is out of championship then nothing else matters.

How will you treat stats? They should not be the same either.

Yes. Ashes will happen but it would be out of the championship. No two ways about it.

And there should be separate stats for both tiers just like it is for football leagues.

That is asking a lot from ICC.I don't think they are ready for it.
