I hear you man and agree with most of what you say.

But is there any way to get ACTUAL changes in Indian cricket team and culture vis-a-vis fast bowling? I doubt it. They frankly don't care what the fans think.

We can sit and wax eloquent about prospects but at the end of the day the bowling will be Bumrah/Shami/Ishant with Umesh next up. Everyone else a distant choice. Eventually Siraj will get older and slower and then he will be an automatic choice. India is the land of the Ishants until we see actual changes.

Problem is even the ex-cricketers seem to vacillate between leery/cynical of Indian fast bowling to outright hostility/hatred to it. People like Srinath who are maybe - maybe - maybe - amenable to pace have been sidelined. I honestly think that if there is an imaginary choice between say peak Thomson, peak Holding, peak Shoaib, peak Donald and peak Bhuvaneshwar to open attack for any  Indian test team- most Indian selectors/ex-players will choose Bhuvaneshwar.Or maybe go out of the box and select ........ Ishant.

I agree the mindset of ex Indian players and selectors is always caution first, putting in a young prospect in international cricket requires a lot of foresight and planning, team management and the selectors prefer medium pacers who would go onto do a decent job without being expensive, fear of criticism and loosing plays a major part here, also the selectors never watch domestic games hence have no idea about these actual talented pacers who don't play regular domestic cricket as trundlers get preferred over them but all from mavi, prasidh, tyagi, Yarra, nagarkoti, Nikhil kohli, khaleel etc haven't yet set domestic cricket on fire, they have done okay but until you dont 35-40 plus first class wickets in a season with 4/5 five wicket hauls, selectors will not pay attention, they will always go for the easier routes selecting nagaswallah, unadkat, kaul, chahar, warrier etc

Although we are not giving young fast bowlers sufficient chances and not making optimal usage of the fast bowling resources we have ... one big change we see is that, atleast we have been able to develop top quality international quicks like Bumrah, Shami and now Siraj.

Till 2014, even this was not happening.

But the way we have wasted Saini and now wasting Prasidh, during their quickest years, is tough to digest too.

Things were real bad in 2014/15, Ashish nehra was coming along as one of our better pacers, we again wastes nathu Singh, In 2013 thou we could have got Awana in the national setup, I thought even dinda was wasted a bit, could have played home test matches, Pankaj Singh was made to wait so long.

pacers who are coming through seem more of hit the deck bowlers than swing bowlers who were dime a dozen before 2014, maybe I'm wrong with guys like Dinda, R Dhawan, Sandeep Sharma, vinay kumar etc. We could use one or 2 such bowlers in the line up if they are skillful and can remain fit.

all of these were incredibly subpar. that's why the likes of "Legend" vinny Koomar got a real hammering

Most of our overseas successes have come when we have basically filled our teams with hit the deck quick bowlers.

And such Indian pacers are usually quite skiddy and do well in Asia too.

Basically performing both Away and at home.

Really enjoyed the fact that we are up 2 -1 in tests in England using Fast seam bowlers. And they have outbowled the English swing bowlers in their own den.

Adding 1 good swing bowler will be nice ... to be specifically used in England and NZ. But hopefully such bowler is in the mould of Anderson or Boult ... that is tall swing bowlers who get bounce too.

We are using a pace bowling allrounder at No.8 ... and we can use this swing bowler at that spot in SENA.

Basically a tall swing bowler with batting ability for the No.8 spot.
