Dhawan , shami, jadhav none has 4 yrs left...u start the process now when 3-4 yrs are left so youngsters get 30-40 games exp. U cant take youngsters in WC with less then 10 games experience.

3rd opening slot for t20 is to be taken infact soon it shud be open for odi considering dhawan age.

Shaw vs samson for t20...how do u decide without trying and u cant take them without game time.

U cant think only of Xi....a good team always have backups ready

Coz they end up winning u 80% of games which gives 1 in 10games for youngsters to to learn to play in pressure game. Indian team will only be stronger of these guys get enough exp to win without those 2. These are the series we need to try that for. Aussie did this so well during their domination era.

All your mumbo jumbo has not addressed one thing which is most important on how resting them will solve the holes in the team. You don't build teams by resting your best players if they are wanting to play.

Adam Gilchirst had to wait till Ian Healy retired to play test cricket.Aussies did not rest Healy to give Gilly chances, that is stupidist thing to do.

For ur info he has been asking rest in past few series or are u his his physio to say he is not overworked

I never said I am his physio, read what I said , if they  did not ask for rest they will play and  if they asked for rest they will sit.It is that simple why is it so hard for you to understand that point.

Resting them one series that to against a poor side like Lanka wnt make a diff .

Also mumbo jumbo....how do u make good sides without proper backups ???

Rohit has been asking for rest in last 2-3 series

Reason he hasnt gotten dhawan injury n kohli rested in bang series.

Also even if they dont where is the plan to give backups games surely they dont wanna do same mistake by taking players in Wc with less then 10 games experience.

If Rohit wants rest ,he will rest end of discussion, a new guy will get a chance. Why do you need back up for top three, that is what my point is  first find players to fill the holes and then worry about finding back ups for top 4.

u need backups for everyone

Let me jog ur memory....dhawan got injured in wc and rahul had to open with exp of around 10 games. Whats ur plan if Kohli n rohit gets injured and anyone can at any point ??? Surely we have player but do they have some game time or have we checked how will they be in international cricket?

Are u going to make teams without backup???

Forget backup this team doesnt have a good 3rd opener for Wc t20 till now....options how will u finalise ?

So has ur 3rd opener hole being filled till now ?? No .

Rahul needs many games from now on if kohli n rohit keeps playing how will u find the 3rd opener ? or will u do akkad bakkad at last minute or take dhawan who has been a so poor in t20

Aussies moved on from Steve Waugh in odis and dropped him from their odi  team that is  the difference and I don't think you have capability to understand the difference.

If we have pool of players let them play at no 5 and no6 spots.First find players who are capable of playing no5 and no6 now and in future can replace Kohli and Rohit once they retire, that is how teams are built.

Teams are not built by replacing existing players who are in their prime in name of team building that is moronic.

can only play player at 5,6 who meant for that position

how will u find 3rd opener for Wc at 5,6 spot ??? ur dodging 3rd opener question....what happ u have no answer? Oh yea in the end its convient to balme on young players

In ODi n t20 - We have pant at 5 and it ll mostly be a keeper keeping top 4 in mind so pant, kishen

in ODi 6 - Dube, jadeja, Axar, Sundar , Shankar, rana player who can bowl is must

In t20 6- dube, Sundar, krunal, sky

no body is replacing them ? main players have been rested in many series specially against weaker sides ...we use to do that with Zimb now we dont play them

How can someone replace kohli n rohit ??? When kohli played coz sachin was rested did he replace sachin ?

Teams are build by resting main players in some series has always happend but teams are never build without proper backups

Another important thing to consider , WC in 2023   3.5 years  away.

Dhawan - already 34 ,  Kedar -35  and both injury prone , rohit nearing 33 looks  not in good shape.  They will be 36-38 range by WC .

Do you think these will  be at their peak in 2023 ?.

Check any  great player and his performance around this age . they will be loosing their edge by that time .

Hence very critical you find at least 3 openers and give them 30+ matches before WC so that you have 3 openers ready .

If rohit is in great form even  in 23,  please play him , but should have back ups ready.

Why this  simple fact is not getting noticed , fail to understand.

Lets look at the scenario -   You play these players for another 3 years , then you find out that they are not performing upto the mark , but   you still play them hoping they will come back to heir best past form but its not happening . Its almost 6 -8 months to go for WC.

What you do now ?   Go for guys who have not even played 10-15 matches ?

Also factor in  fielding standards with these 36-38 years old.

Excellent point...TM and some short sighted fans are happy seeing Kohli Rohit bashing against bf and wi. Whereas we could have tried few youngsters in this series for future readiness purpose especially for mega events like wc.

People giving ex of aus should first understand they always give break to their main players in inconsequential biletrals. Not just aus, team around the world give break to their players even against their will to try new bunch of players so that we don't have to force play over the hill senior case in ex ind in test in 2011 and Pak in 2003 wc where they don't have young playe s and played with 36 yrs Akram, 35 years younis and 35 years Anwar and get massacred and kicked out in first round.

I have ignored one poster's posts and he happened to have posted in this thread.

I just thought to unignore his comment on this page and even before I read his first sentence I was vindicated of my decision to ignore his posts.

His posts reek of nepotism and utter nonsense of highest order disregarding the good players team India has. Such posters should be banned IMO.
