Ashwin and Jadeja have earned that right to represent India not just in India but overseas too.Yes they have failed to take 5fers or 10fers but given what they offer with bat and the balance they provide to the team I would play them over fading Kuldeep. Your views might differ on that, that is fine. Core players who were not core players just 12 months ago in Aus or on the previous away tour cycles? Whatever you say Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
Gill batted at 4 in the last match, here he's opening with Vihrai. Mindboggling how they are shuffling batting positions without any thinking. Link to comment

Lannister
Gill should be one of the Test openers against NZ. He is in rich form and you have to be seriously dumb not to select him. Mosher and express bowling 2 Link to comment

If we lose 1st test, 2nd test might see Gill as one of the 2 openers is likely to fail in both innings of 1st test, Vihari & Pant cld replace Ashwin and Saha. Unstable Joe 1 Link to comment

Hey, you just have to see the (political) leadership across the globe. Cricket is a reflection of the same, you have Boris *ing Johnson sinking the SS UK Titanic meanwhile DJT is leading US of A into a ditch with upright spears, although our own leadership isn't so bad we do have many dumbasses in the govt Why do you think cricket would be better? People are looking out for themselves, we or the collective us isn't a norm anymore heck people are fine being greedy & selfish & virtually portray it as a virtue! Brat is doing just the same Unstable Joe 1 Link to comment

He's still winning lots of meaningless bilaterals though, plus his own run rate (output) is great. The general public anyways has an attention span of a dodo, like the *wits still wanting Dhongi in the team. His place is secure as long as he's scoring runs & we aren't getting hammered ala 2011-13 under his guru. Cricwala 1 Link to comment

When we were abysmal similar in SENA during 2012-2016, it was very cleverly packaged by the team management then and supported by BCCI that it is normal to get whitewashed away as long as we are winning the series at home. It's a different thing that such arrogance and lack of vision led to home series defeat to England, but point is the current capatin and coach understands this aspect that average fans who are the bulk of the audience does not have a critical understanding of the game and their disappointments are temporary as they can be easily turned around with a quick series over Lanka or Zimbabwe. For that the cricket reporting media (print and TV) has to be independent but Kohli (and before him Dhoni) have them on their payroll whoc act as their PR. Almost all such journos are the mouthpieces of the captain. Where else would you see absolutely no criticism of the captain (and the coach) despite a WC disaster or for random decisions esp. on young players. Link to comment
