Correct,Qadir had a very good googly but I don't think he was that good legspinner overall.Imran is a moron sometimes , he always said Qadir was better than Warne. There has noone who could spin like Warne and be so accurate. If he thought he was great he would haved played him in Banglore test in 1987 on a bunsen burner over other two spinners he played in that match.I would put Chandra ahead of Qadir. Straight Drive 1
putrevus Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Totally wrong selections in all playing XIs.
ShoonyaSifar Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 World 1970-94 batsmen would keep getting run out due to vastly improved fielding standards. And the captain would keep getting fined (and ultimately suspended) for slow over rate. Lack of a rest day and 90 overs every day would also tire these players out. So even before you look at stats, 1995-2020 XI have a huge head start vs those from ‘70-‘95

Chandra outperformed Qadir statistically as well as subjectively due to variations. The only leg spinner who could turn as much as Warne did or more was Stuart MacGill. But he had massive problems bowling no ball - bowled more no balls than even pacers at times and also a full today putrevus 1

True. Given the nature of Aussie wickets and the abundant pace bowlers during the period in which Australian team was best for a long period, it meant Australia could only accomodate one test spinner. MacGill was the second best in rare supply of spin bowlers within Australia and definitely his career was reduced because of the great Shane Warne.

Ambrose, also one of the greats, adds variety to the attack. Avg 19 with a SR of less than 50 outside home in 70-94 period Miandad and Imran, who likes to tour Pakistan? No more home umpires as well and can’t play around with the ball so easily anymore Chandra has a better SR and avg overseas. Also a mystery bowler relatively Edited January 23, 2020 by zen
