kosingh Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Kerala has natural advantages. Low poverty rate and high education rate among residents. Relative to Mumbai, Delhi, etc., a greater percent of the population is likely to follow guidelines. I don't think the big metros have done all that badly given their inherent disadvantages. The battle for them was always a long shot.
Mariyam Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Kerala is one of the 6 Indian states that has met the WHO norm of at least one doctor per 1000 people. Kerala has a tradition of nursing and their response to covid (and NIPA) is to call upon their reserves of retired nurses or those engaged in other professions back to nursing. Maharashtra for instance called the Homeguard and the SRPF to help with Covid related tasks like food distribution/ testing. That also makes a difference. Some of those who have returned to Kerala from the Gulf and other regions are covid +ve. Lets see how that pans out.
