Nikola Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 All wickets of Australian batsman in 2005 ashes. Was this best bowling attack to ever play for England?
Gollum Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 I rate their 2009-12 attack higher because of that world class spinner in Swann. Clarke 1

They were good in this series and series before this (Eng's tour to SA) so maybe for short period of time but when these 4 pacers played together not only they picked up wickets but entertained us as well.

Pakistan has been a huge mental block for the English side for many years now. Last time they surprised Pak was when they won the test series under Nasser Hussain in Karachi, 2000...pitch black darkness with Moin Khan trying all tricks to call off the match.
Ankit_sharma03 Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 They worked as unit but best attack has to have anderson, broad, swann If the current ones play all together it ll be very lethal in england conditions- Anderson, broad, archer, woakes, curran
Gollum Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 In 2011 series against us Eng fielded peak versions of Anderson and Broad, Tremlett, Bresnan, Swann, even Finn was in the squad. Scary AF. nevada 1

They had pace, movement and were accurate in this series. Pick 4 man pack attack of era from england who could have won 2005 ashes.

Kohli in 2018 was outstanding but RD was playing the best side in the world back then.

I know he wasn't part of odi team for over a year but he must have been thinking about proving himself in upcoming series and i think he made comeback in limited over side after such exceptional performance.

Agreed but surely they can't be termed a great English attack when they hardly played together and could not perform 2 series in a row? Botham/Willis (pre 83) and Anderson/Broad/Swann were much more consistent.

I think he scored a 100 in the lost cause.
