In one test, Stokes and Pope hit 100s In one of the T20s, iirc, they chased 220 odd Link to comment

Displaying fighting spirit and doing well in certain or difficult conditions are different though For e.g. even if Eng had lost this test, there are no question marks over their fighting spirit Link to comment

There were a few 50:50 moments in the 2018 Ashes and Eng just gave up without semblance of fight. May have changed but let us wait for a couple of more years. Link to comment

Just like a batsman and a bowler cannot hit a 100 and pick up a 5-er in every game, nor can a team display fighting spirit esp. through desired result in every game (or occasions/conditions) .... If Eng is able to display fighting spirit as a team more often than other teams, it should be good Now you can be an ATG side and win w/o even having to push (win based on skills rather than ability to fight). Or you can be an underdog that fights even without getting desired results. If among current teams, if people think Eng is one of the top teams that display fighting spirit and pick it esp. to chase totals over many of the other teams, it is helping to build that brand of fighting cricket for it Edited August 8, 2020 by zen Link to comment
