Who could've imagined a man with one of his hands affected by polio to become one of the best spinners in the world?

One of the key architects of Ind's famous wins overseas in the 70s .... Helped India become the #1 ranked team in the 1973-74 period :hatsoff:

If you get time watch full series, it's a good one. I hope a second season is also made of Mid Wicket tales.

Once he got his line/length, was unplayable. According to King Viv, he was more deadly than Lillee and Thommo. Won us so many matches both home and away.

Loved watching the Indian spin quartet bowl. Like the WI Pacers are all time best pace attack ever , Indian spin quartet remains the best spin bowling attack ever. Chandra like other members of the famous spin attack added different qualities as did other spinners.

His 8 wicket haul against England was one I remember. That was at Kotla.

Oval iirc was another of his best bowling spell where he took 5 fer. Bedi and Venkat also played in that match and Solkar made a name for himself with close catching.

Chandra had a flipper, a googly and also used to get bounce. In fact, Chandra's Googlie's had a very good bounce.

Even in England where the cold weather means less sensation on fingers, he bowled very well for spinner. He performed in conditions difficult for spin bowlers.

As Gollum mentioned, Chandra was unplayable when he got it right. One such match was against Kiwis.

In South zone he and Venkat formed a marvellous bowling pair troubling many teams.

Legend , best of the four, please don’t counter with stats . Not as consistent as Bedi . After fast bowlers, it is very good to watch leg spinners bowl, like seeing lefty batsmen. Off spinners are like right hand batsmen , dull and common.

he used his handicap to his advantage. Inspired the Kachra char in lagaan.  Architect of the first overseas series victory and India achieving #1 spot in 1973-74
