If he could avg 60 playing in the top order in tests, he would line up to bat there like in ODIs Sorry was a typo, I meant to say he would have averaged over 70 playing in the top order Edited September 2, 2020 by New guy

I still remember the time he came up with a system called RPT (runs per tests) to measure how good batsmen are. It was very well thought out too and a detailed post supporting it Edited September 2, 2020 by New guy Gollum 1

It was very well thought out too and a detailed post supporting it If a player is discussed so frequently and passionately 7-8 years after retirement, his career/stats/flaws dissected so much that already puts that player on a higher pedestal. People don't care about lesser tier ATGs, but something attracts them towards GOAT contenders, take that as a compliment. For most of my life I was a Federer fanatic and the number of statistical parameters, mental gymnastics, variables, intangibles, absurd filters etc some folks on the tennis forum used to deploy to downplay him, ICF is nothing in comparison. Not that I disagreed with some of the counterpoints reg Fed but sometimes felt like hatred when I was younger and emotional, not the case now. I am a big fan of Djokovic and he gets similar, often unreasonable criticism and attention (not in a positive way) from naysayers and a certain section (dominated by upper class Western fans). But same people have never and will never subject a Sampras, Borg or Laver to such high standards, that automatically means my guys are special, they will be discussed many decades from now while some other legends will be quickly forgotten. Take it in that spirit, Sachin will always be a yardstick for future generation batsmen (even haters from padosiland, they may hate Indian players but will they compare their precious Babar Azam with Ponting, Sanga or Kallis?), be at peace, have fun and sometimes join the banter. I am sure this is all just fun, posters are simply bored cos of inactivity, no malice intended. I sometimes like to rib certain fan sections: of Dhoni, Sachin, Kohli etc but that is just to elicit reactions, a way to ease boredom . Really who will even fall for baits when subjects are Dravid, Kumble, Pujara.....great players but bland and don't have mad following. Edited September 2, 2020 by Gollum

Rishabh has more centuries in his first SENA tour than Thailam has in his whole career and yet Thailam fans have the audacity to talk about Sachin

Couldn't even replace No.4 properly in that squad till now. Forget about replacing No.6 Virat bats no.3 is all formats. Not a coward like tendiya Virat bats no.3 in all formats ? The coward hid behind Pant, DK and Hardik

On so many forums of other countries, over the years, i have seen sachin compared with everyone from Bradman, Lara, De Silva, Waughs, even jayasuriya, Afridi, to now Cook, Root, Babbar. I have always told them, the day a player will be greater or Sachin will be lesser is when Sachin is removed from that one constant of comparison and someone else takes their place. One player cannot be hogging almost every comparison and then you claiming he is no where near the top

No, that's wrong, the 1999 test match was the first time Indians ever faced Akhtar. He played that Kolkata test on 24th Feb and the ODI series followed in March Edited September 2, 2020 by New guy cricketfan28 1

Says alot about those dead rubber pattas. Amount of runs Dhoni scored in first ever away England tour and especially Winning series says alot. 52 average and his crucial 92 is better than any innings played by any wk. Obviously selfish chamchas wouldn't have a clue about it because ailiaaaa 100 mara even if India lost. Edited September 2, 2020 by Rasgulla

Dhoni is lucky in that sense. Didn't get replaced by anyone even after being pathetic for more than a decade Coming to the part time wicket keeper. The part-time wicket keeper has more 100s in New Zealand than Thailam has in his entire career. Dead rubber pattas - Dhoni couldnt manage to score a single 100 even on those 'dead rubber pattas'
