cowboysfan Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I think we have to plan for the future,dhoni is not in our long term plans in test cricket.his lack of technique and unwillingness to spend time out there is alarming.I would actively be looking out for a replacement NOW.

I would expect better contribution from any WK which India discarded over last 10 years than Dhoni when playing outside subcontinent. He has made his reputation/average by scoring hundreds after coming in at 400/5 scores..

Dhoni is ok for ODIs but in tests he is just a walking wicket and also makes terrible field placements more often than not

If he spends some time at the crease and maybe scores 15(60), people will be jumping on his back asking why he's playing tuk tuk. If he plays positive and gets out early, he will also be criticised. Somehow he needs to force bowlers to bowl full at him where he can then play his natural game with shots over the top. Because the ball outside off stump is gonna get him again and again with his technique.
putrevus Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 To be fair on Dhoni in regards to field settings, there is only one good fielder in this playing eleven which is kohli all others are extremely poor fielders. Aussies on the other hand have 10 very good fielders who are very good on the field and are fit. Catching is on par which is saving grace except Dravid who no longer should be first choice in the slips.
