With the T20 WC next year, I would want a fit Bhuvi getting sufficient practice in this IPL. He is one of our better pacers in T20s. In T20Is, Chahar's stats are good but he has played just 10 games and the sample size is too small and so it carries little meaning. Just like in ODIs his stats are very poor but again carries little meaning as the sample size is very small too But wherever he has played sufficient number of games, his wickets per match is not that good. Be it the IPL, overall T20s, List A or FC. And that happens because he bowls well only when the ball swings and looks ordinary when the ball is not swinging. None of the Indian pacers have good stats in the IPL, including Chahar. And the reason probably is that pacers don't go all out in every match in a League based tournament with 14 League games. Otherwise they won't survive. But the more pertinent question is ... where has Chahar performed over any length of time before national selection ?
