have u been following the protests? the "farmers" protesting are mainly from Punjab and Haryana, with minor numbers from a couple more states.

There is a ogistics issue so others cannot come to boeder. It is nationwide.

you are comparing BD with India... a country that sends its own migrants in droves to India to look for employment.

That is claasical deflection. No one ever said BD is better than India. facts are a bitch. Their per capita GDP is higher tha India's under Modi's watch. I would not call that as economic policies working.

theres a difference between bhinderwale and punjabi. im not dissing punjabis but the radicals. and lets not forget what gujaratis are called by punjabis in private.

deep in their heart Punjabis deeply respect Gujratis. They are good businessman and are fair in their dealings. There is plenty to like about Gujratis and respecting them.

The response will be, I was a Modi supporter. Now, He is an Oligarch maker of Adani and Ambani, Farmers are poor. These new laws will make farmers more poor. I am sharing these propaganda videos to prove that.

All your posts are projections with no data. Do you know contract farming is practiced in many states already and these acts will regulate that aspect of farming, reduce undue adv taken by private companies on farmers? All you guys are saying is farmers are poor and Adani will be taking advantage of these new acts with no reference to any data whatsoever.

My posts are full of facts. Facts that you ignore. Or the facts you deliberately ignore.

Fact: BD per capita GDP > India

Fact. Majority of wealth created went to top 1%

Fact PSU's are bigger drain

FactPSU's do nothing and get paid

Fact: farmers work more in a day compared to a PSU employee does in a week (maybe a month)

facts: So on and so forth

Fact: You are a product of priviliged back ground who has never seen poverty and parrot the masters.

Fact 1: Have you analyzed why BD's per-cap GDP went higher now in Covid times and it was higher earlier? Don't use that as a yardstick.. I can provide some links on this issue for you to read. I will not even post propaganda videos.

Fatc 2: The 1%ers are not unique to India, it is more pronounced in developed countries like USA, Canada as well. Again, a wrong yardstick in this context.

Fact 3: Any reform in PSUs to privatize by any govt gets the same kind of protests, so that whataboutry of using PSUs in this context is detrimental to India. There has been no liberalization like 1993 in any sector, we will live in socialist India where Mai-baap sarkaar will forever serve the rich farmers and rich middlemen and poor farmers will be left to the dogs to commit suicide.

Fact 4: Some of the PSUs are profitable unlike agrarian industry.

Fact: P-H farmers are the richest in the nation, a drain on taxpayers who are funding their substandard crop with MSPs and rot the crops in FCI APMCs godowns. . Read orfonline posts on Agriculture reform history of last 20 years. Instead of viewing propaganda videos.

Fact: Debate on the issue, not personal remarks like I am privileged, not important to the issue being discussed here.

Fact: COVID hit both the countries.

Fact: COVID is a bs excuse for economic policy failure.

Fact: You cannot use COVID for personal failures.

fact: India has a very small middle class

Fact: Majority of Indians are very poor. Those are the ones I support.

fact: PSU is relevant because they are a bigger drain and still not made India self sufficient.

Fact: Farmers have made India self sufficient.

fact:: No problem with profitable PSU's.

fact: Why pick on farmers when lot of other sectors are a drain too.

fact: I do a lot of reading.

fact: I don't have time for videoes.

fact: I am debating issues and that is why your priviliged background is important.

Fact People of priviliged backgroun do not understand poor people.

fact: I come from poor background and I understand poverty.

fact: I will always speak up for the poor people.

fact: facts are facts and noise is bs.

Agreed, this is as bad as this act done recently the the Haryana BJP Govt when they dug up public property to stop Punjab farmers in their peaceful protests march towards Delhi causing a blockade & inconvenience to the Public.

Agreed. Hurting JIO does not advance their cause. It is about basic economic rights and nothing else.

I am all for peaceful protests in a democracy. But it must be done in an organized way so as not to inconvenience the public. There should be designated protest locations in every city/town with drinking water, stalls, proper sanitation, sunshade and other amenities. Wouldn't mind if govt does that. Also no protests in historical places of importance or tourist spots lest heritage is vandalized, makes me sick when we have so many protests in Delhi's Jantar Mantar despite SC ruling to protect the monument.

My dad went to vaishno devi mata with friends last week (one friend from sonipat Haryana also went) by road ...so he had to go via singhu border... there is 10-15km traffic blockade by tractors etc. causing extreme difficulty for the locals and for Delhiites... fortunately they had the sonipat friend who knew about the inner alternate but longer route to bypass the jam...

If they allowed this to happen in Delhi -- connaught place (jantar mantar) and places, that would have simply choked delhi.

Thankfully they didn't allow.

That would be step in the right direction.

On that note, government has proposed additional amendments to safeguard land ownership. IE no loans can be mortgaged against the farm land. If anything, new contract farming laws are heavily skewed in favor of the farmers. Do you think the protesting farmers should soften their stance as well instead of demanding a complete roll back?

Although the Green Revolution model is in trouble, it is not clear how to reform it. Because jobs outside agriculture are hard to come by, farmers defend what they have. The Indian government’s failure to build political consensus, and the haste with which the three laws were enacted, make farmers suspicious about the true motives behind this reform.

Well the last sentence hits the nail on the head to capture the current mood of the protest. Unfortunately there are many progressive measurements and benefits being overlooked completely due to this mistrust.

I think they should. Times have changes and farmers have to adjust accordingly. Modi and farmers have to come to some compromise because in the end it hurts the country.

Kejriwal didn’t provide food or shelter to migrant workers walking out of Delhi, drove them and dumped them in UP border. Now, look at their support for farmers who want to block roads in NCR. Once an anarchist always an anarchist. They want to hurt BJP even at the cost of India. Dilliwalon mubarak ho,  vote them more, aur paanch saal do aur sado.
