I agree, cooler heads have prevailed since the early days of protests so hopefully a resolution will be reached soon. Khota 1

Just another matter of fact there is no farmer who even gets the MSP. It far below the govt. price also. I understand that govt. does not have endless supply of money but this needs to be done in judicious manner. I also know farmers need to understand these laws will not be rolled back. They have to work with PM and the PM needs to show some compassion here. But this is pretty arbitrary and country cannot run like this. So, MSP has been paid all these years ( highest last year ) for stocking grains which are rotting. So, for no good reason few people’s trust is lost and now you want it in writing. sometimes I do wish we were China. Yoda-esque and randomGuy 1 1

Remove zamindar monopoly and create big corporation monopoly. How does this help the common farmer. Its a bit like demonetize 500s and 1000s and issue new 500s and 2000s. Does that ring a bell or you've already forgotten about it. What did that demonetization really achieve.

Most importantly if corporate companies are already securing land & building massive storage facilities before the laws are hastily passed.....it definitely proves that Modi has colluded with rich corporate buddies & doesn't give a damn about poor farmers. Farmers definitely need to have a say in any law reforms, that's why current national debate over farm bills is a blessing in disguise. Government dropped the ball on this one, so farmers a have better leverage in this situation. But I can assure you private corporations handling food grain storage and logistics is hardly relevant to this whole debate. This is how its done around the globe and have no implications on the farmers. I am from Rajasthan where many farmer are pro-reforms in the absence of widespread MSP support but they are still standing in solidarity with the farmers across the country. They would wholeheartedly support any amendments to benefit the greater farming community but the majority aren't in favor of a complete roll back.

If you want real reforms disband PSUs and go from there. Those entities are highly inefficient. farmers are net exporters.

Underline issue is farmers are working very hard and can barey support their family. There are inefficiencies that need to be dealt with but the safety net needs to stay. No where in the world farming is free market. Thew system will crash if it is free market. It has to be regulated. If they need to fix stuff they need to start from PSU's which are a bigger drain. Modi coming from a highly Industrial state does not understand farming. Farmers from rajasthan will support farmers from Haryana, Punjab etc. because they understand exactly what is going on.

I haven't been to Mumbai but I think they are more chiller than Delhi from the people I have met in US who were from Mumbai. Mumbai also has people from all over India. Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata have the least diversity but still there is some. I was born in Delhi BTW and lived there for 6 years. My dad was a chief engineer and worked for Roadways in the Central Government. Last time I was there was about 15 years ago. Observed the same behavior there. I mean Indians in general are more socially aggressive in general but Delhi is where they take it to a new level

What did that demonetization really achieve. False equivalence and strawman logic. Do you know 22 states have established private markets, 21 have e-trading, 23 have a single license or a single point levy on the APMC purchases, 20 have contract farming permitted legally now .. Why were they not blocking streets and stealing generators from cell towers already because of the corporate bogeyman? The corporates are already here, these reform supposedly give better control to the farmer in case of litigations or contracts. Removing the commission and fees applied by APMCs, the private buyers save farmers more money. Corporates can be regulated by strong governments, zamindars can’t be.
