ShoonyaSifar
Thread inspired by a tweet. Indian cricket, if not at the crossroads, is inching closer to it. All the ills that brought the team down in the 2011-12 away series cycle or in 2014 in Eng are there again - an all powerful captain who is immune to losses surrounded by an inept coaching setup which can neither strategise nor inspire the players. End result is players are looking lost. It's not just in this series. We had exactly same situation in NZ as well. Now is the time for BCCI to decide if it will prefer to go the MI way (successfull happy team winning trophies, grooming youngsters, captain and coaches in sync and working together to take the team forward) or be content with the RCB way (winning no trophies, all about its star player and his comforts, youngsters look lost, are unsure of their role or the team strategies, the star players remain there others keep getting in and out). I know IPL is nowhere close to international cricket and there cannot be any direct comparisons. But am using MI and RCB only as metaphors, it's more about the contrasting leadership and management styles. BCCI will soon have to decide if it's continues to go the RCB or would rather prefer to change the course and go the MI way. Thoughts? saik and sage 2 Link to comment
R!TTER
The only way, MI way, works is if Kohli picks his game up a notch after giving up the captaincy. I know SRT's no one's fav cap but the guy was an honest trier & even when not the skipper he gave his 110% a lot of the times. If Brat cannot find the drive or zeal to win games as a player, for India, then honestly he's better off retiring! Edited November 29, 2020 by R!TTER maniac, nevada and sorak 1 2 Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
BUMP MI way vs RCB way..enough evidence in last 4 months to show what works better and is in the larger interest of the Indian team. The RCB way esp in LOIs has held the team back in last few years and despite having everything with us - resources facilities, talent, performance at junior and A levels, we haven't been dominant in ODIs and have somehow stagnated with no fresh thinking or approach. Enough of it now. IF we have to win the 2020 WC or 2023 WC, the RCB way has to be replaced by the MI way. Will Dada let that happen? Stan AF 1 Link to comment
Majestic
RCB way means picking Punjab, Delhi and Bangalore franchise team. Paddikal Rahul Kohli Pant Shreyas Pandya( backup- Dube) Sundar Bhuvi Saini Chahal Bumrah MI way means picking the XI as :- Rohit kishan kohli SKY pant/KL Pandya Jadeja Shardul Bhuvi chahar R Bumrah Now decide the XI. More than the players RCB way is about a megalomaniac captain making it all about himself and his friends, screwing the team's chances and not letting any youngsters prosper. All this naturally means no trophy wins. MI way is the antithesis to this and means a much more calmer leadership group, more youngsters flourishing, more trophy wins and a more happier dressing room. Majestic 1 Link to comment
