Lone Wolf Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 In my view Pujara (to blunt the new ball) Mayank Gill (stroke maker) Rahane jaddu (left hander) Vihari Pant (aggressive left hander) Ashwin Umesh Bumrah Siraj
Serpico Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 It should be decided at the moment based on the stage of the match. If 2nd wicekt falls after 40-45 overs, send in Pant/Jadeja and make sure we can maintain a left-right combo for as long as possible.. if it falls early on, send in vihari Lone Wolf 1
ShoonyaSifar Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Gill has played most of his FC career as an opener. Let him be the opener. My choice: Gill, Mayank, Pujara, Jadeja, Rahane, Pant, Ashwin, Umesh, Bumrah, Siraj
Adamant Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 It will be Mayank Gill Pujara Vihari Rahane Pant JADEJA Ashwin Umesh Siraj Bumrah

Pujara at 3 doesn't seem right as games goes no where when he's at 3. If he has to blunt the new ball & tire bowlers.. He may as well open making life easier for Gill. Having two nervous openers to face Aussie pace battery first up is not a great idea tbh.

You're saying this about the guy who won us the Test series vs the same set of bowlers on the last tour to Australia! Let him be at peace at number 3 and use the same approach which has got him success so far. He bats for long, we'll do well. It's as simple as that. And you couldn't more incorrect about top 3 being similar in Tests. Some of the best number 3s in recent test history Sanga, Dravid, Amla, all struggled whenever asked to open Adamant 1

About time we stop giving those games too much importance. Recent form matters as well.
sandeep Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Apart from an odd shuffle in the middle order with a Jadeja or Pant, the top 4 are pretty much locked in with Gill debuting against the new ball. We can project and discuss all we want, it aint going to matter. express bowling 1
GeeGaw Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Gill Mayank Pujara Rahane Pant KL Rahul Jadeja Ashwin Umesh Bumrah Siraj Only reason Pant at 5 instead of 6 is to split up the two left handlers.

GeeGaw Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Never mind about KLR, I didn’t scroll down and see the team announcement post. Oh well, put Vihari in his slot and go.
Prabhdeep Singh Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 M Agarwal H Vihari C Pujara S Gill A Rahane R Jadeja R Pant R Ashwin U Yadav J Bumrah M Siraj The likely person under pressure for his spot is H Vihari, he should open. It may free him up and has opened before. Rohit will be back from 3rd Test if Vihari fails either at opening or middle order. S Gill has scored 3 double hundreds in his first class career, 2 have been at Number 4 & Number 5 against New Zealnad A and West Indies A, prefer him at Number 4.
Lone Wolf Posted December 25, 2020 Author Posted December 25, 2020 If India does not manage to draw or win the second Test against Australia then it will be the first time in their 88 years of a Test playing nation that they will lose all matches in a calendar year (minimum 3 Tests). We somehow gotta show some fight. 9 outta 10 times we will lose. But Rahane needs to win the toss somehow to even the odds.
