Will Kohli be under pressure against England in home series?

Recommended Posts

Not just this series. Every series from now on. He knows he is leading two potentially better captains. Ravi will protect him best he can. There are only two ways out of this mess now. Three actually.

1) Kohli becomes a good captain and India doesnt bottle big games. Unlikely.
2) Kohli focuses on batting. All said and done that has dropped. Gives up captaincy.
3) India gets beaten in 3 major series and T 20 WC. After this series, it is fairly natural to look at pipeline given the bench strength we have seen.

Unlikely to be beaten by anyone at home, do you count the England home series as big :cantstop:

We're likely to be beaten away though & T20 WC is unlikely coming home, we need big changes for that like dropping thigh slapper & unnecessary baggage from the T20 team - again unlikely under Brat.

But let's see what happens, if cricket was just played in our minds we'd have every trophy imaginable & never lose anything :om:

Not just potentially but two proven better captains.

Any captain with an iota of self respect would have reflected and resigned after two major setbacks in last 4 months being thoroughly upstaged by two other captains

I think for a sportsman it is difficult to back down. It’s just in the attitude. Especially when you feel you have a stamp on the team. Plus it’s Ravi Kohli duo. They are both protecting each other from everyone else. Ravi kept undermining Rahane’s brilliance because he wants everyone to remember that this is Kohli’s team.

For me, I was expecting a 4-0 loss under Kohli and then Ganguly intervening. But this isn’t a bad scenario. Kohli is under pressure to deliver. It is not personal. If her delivers, what’s the harm. If he doesn’t, the pressure from public will be enough.

It will be interesting to see the dynamic between rahane and kohli. Soon after the Dharmasala test win under rahane, he failed in sri lanka series and was immediately dropped. So if Rahane fails again in the england home series, will he be dropped for WTC final?

Rahane from his side did everything right to not cause any insecurity in virat.. he avoided too much exposure in media, even sent ravi shastri to the press meets sometimes after winning the matches. But still he is getting lot of accolades from experts and some are even calling him the better captain.. he should really hope that he scores a ton in this series

The problem with Kohli is he is a very conservative captain, even though his antics on the field may trick you into believing he is aggressive. He doesnt trust his team enough and always opts for safer options.

This is the reason why fast bowlers and new team members dont feel confident under him and there is an atmosphere of nervousness in the team when things dont go well. Compare this to Rahane, who backs his players and believes in them enough to let them do the best they can.

Hopefully, going forward, he learns to take a back seat, dont be so hands on and backs the players more and listens to people around him as well.
