Will Kohli be under pressure against England in home series?

Recommended Posts

Some key players will be back.

Playing at home against England. Expected to win and not just series, but all matches. Also WTC on line.

Team just won everything against odds. Odds are back in favor when he returns back. Also this team has lost only 1 test in last 8 years.

He will get lot of flak for captaincy misses. Even if India fails to win the game, there will be questions.

God forbid he loses a game, or say loses first test England (won't happen) - I can't even imagine what will happen.

Yeah. This is bothering me too. Surely he now has it in the back of his mind that a blip this series can seriously fukk his reputation up.

Don't know how he handles it as we all know the headless chicken he turns into in crisis...spacer.png

Just hope somehow he doesn't mess up our final chances

Kohli WILL be under pressure. Rahane did a tremendous job down under as a stand-in captain, getting a depleted and inexperienced squad to punch way above its weight in foreign conditions, and doing almost everything right with respect to team selections, field settings, Bowling changes, determining  batting order, etc. he will be expected to not even draw (let alone lose) a single match in home conditions with most of the first choice players back. I don’t think he’ll buckle under pressure, he’s a decent captain in home test matches and moreover as others in this thread have already pointed out we can back our team to Pull through irrespective of his captaincy. But he will be under a lot of pressure, make no mistake.

There is no flak on his captaincy,He is still the best captain in all formats for this team.It is his team he built fit from ruins which Dhoni left. Let Rahane become consistent batsman first.

Adam Gilchrist won the two tests in 2004 series as captain vs India while Ponting was injured did it become his team. Ponting incidently lost the only test he captained in that series. Aussies never won any series before and after.

Kohli is the unquestioned leader and captain for this team, rightly so.

they should have sacked ponting actually. overrated captain who got exposed once key players retired.. eventually got sacked after home series humiliation against england

lol at dhoni leaving the team in ruins. Dhoni gave him ashwin, jadeja and pujara who made the team undefeatable at home. and our genius kaptaan tried to replace them whenever there was a chance

One thing is for sure, this series proved that Kohli needs Indian team more than Indian team needs Kohli.

All these days, his fanboys tried to portray him as a lone warrior who is carrying a mediocre team and that team will fall apart if kohli isn't holding it together. This series conclusively proved that he is just a mediocre captain with great team, there is nothing special about his ""aggressive"" MC BC captaincy and in fact we are much better without it

They also need Thakur over Shami. Why do they need Shami or Ishant or even Bumrah.

In one thread abuses Gill, here targeting Rahane. No worse breed of fans than these Kohli cheerleaders.

It most likely will be an easy series win for India and his captaincy will never come into question.

Absolutely..  Kohli's batting is a plus for us but that doesn't means there isn't enough Talent there in the team.  This tour we had a Talent like Gill & Pant showing consistency & Pujara Rahane chipping in useful contributions.  Sundar Jadeja played A/R roles to perfection.  Ashwin showing ATG level class.  Our team is formidable with or without Kohli provided we play with tactics & Planning & not like YAaahoooo Aggression all the time...  Which looks funny  & cringe most of the time.
