No I am not, I don't like to kick out an ATG odi player based on few innings.

I am sure lot of geniuses here would have been advocating for useless Sai for number 3 if Kohli did not score runs in second odi.

Nov 2027 is long way ahead, this nonsense that Rohit and Kohli need to prove their worth every innings is ridiculous.

Would I trust useless guys like Ishan , Iyer or Sai over 40 year old Rohit in a big match then answer is no.

If there was a quality batsman sitting outside, I would have been all for it. Other than Jaiswal there is no batsman even worth trying for 2027.

Got it, T I N A logic.

As for alternatives, unless you get Jaiswal and another guy (Ishan / Sai / whoever else) in and give them a decent run, how would you know whether they will work out? Clearly, none of them are in the historic RGS category, but given that there are 2 more years to the WC and, no matter what, father time will beat RGS sooner rather than later, a hard decision must be made now. He is on a descent - one may argue about how steep the slope is, but that it is going downhill is inarguable.

How is it TINA logic, You mean to say Rohit cannot score runs anymore.

He might be on downhill question needs to be asked , is his downhill better than guys like Sai's uphill or their best.

They might play another 20 odis before world cup. Why are you hell bent on kicking Rohit out but keeping Iyer? Replace Iyer with Jaiswal.

It is always TINA only otherwise

We would be replacing Bumrah and his 43 avg  in knockout matches in odis.

Question is how to fit Jaiswal into the team.

Answer is simple remove Iyer and put Jaislwal at number 4.

Plus remove Afghanistan series from Gill and see how great our captain is against good teams.

Why change batting order. Replace both with Jaiswal and Patidar/Samson etc

What have they done? Plus why is everyone so against changing batting order.

It used to be done all the time.

Sarfraz khan made 303 runs this season with an average of 75.75 at a strike rate of 190 in one dayers for Mumbai.  21 sixes.  This guy is scoring runs everywhere. He is left out in all formats. But  we are treating like there is no alternative. You can easily kick out these guys India will still win. In the first match none oft he oldies contributed. We won.

I don't remember an opener becoming a MO batter because of places. Reverse happens as it is an easier shift. Rohit also started as MO

Rohit was opening for MI , then he became number 4 even in t20s then again their opener.  Hussey was an opener , he became their number 5.Kohli made his debut as opener in odis.

Hussey started as middle order player in white ball. Became opener later. Kohli was also middle order in U19WC. Became opener in SL series and faailed and was back to no. 3/4

He started as middle as there was no room for him to play as an opener. Just like Jaiswal, Aussies wanted his bat in the lineup.

Ganguly became number 3 to put Sehwag  as an opener.

Jaiswal is the best Test opener in the world. Giving a confusing role in ODI will be like shooting ourselves in the foot. No.3 at best. Nothing below. If Kohli wanst to bat at 4 that is fine.  After all MSD sacrificed his no.3 spot which he could have occupied if he wanted.  Thala has the best average in ODI history as no.3 batsman (min 500 runs) played against 1 ball era, with less fielding restriction.

How was Rohit's performance from 2007-12 ? 5 freaking years ?

What did Kohli do in 2011 ODI wC, except for that 100 vs Bangladesh. He was playing regularly for last 3 yeafs...right. His inns in final was useful, but not a match winnings one. Yet, he was persisted.

You dont pick or choose players based on their initial days. You look at the skill and back them. Gill didnt do much in 2023 ODI WC..but he is backed coz he is talented and his peak is about to come.

Jaiswal, Sai or whoever else cominh up are the future of this team. RoKo arent invincible and they should be removed if they dont fit in team planning. Team comes first, not the players. India team has won without Rohit or Kohli and it will continue to do the same, they are just the part of the process, they arent the process itself.

People need to realize that the team is bigger than any individual player

I am answering your questions.

I never said they are irreplaceable ..I always said Jaiswal should be part of the team back in 2023 itself .Gill is extremely lucky to become captain in anything.

Regarding plans of the team for 2027 ?how are you coming into conclusion that they not fitting in those plans.

Don’t mix Rohit with Kohli. Kohli is still best batsman in the team.

Regarding 2011 World Cup. Kohli was among best batsmen in the country, so he was in the team.

No one can guarantee performance in world Cup .Can you guarantee performance in World Cup of player X ? what did Sehwag do in 2011 other than his 175 , so did Sehwag not deserve his place.

I don’t mind replacing both of them also  but this nonsense that they have to prove themselves every match or series is ridiculous.

I said, "if" they are not fitting the plan. And at age of 38-39 if they are still considered as the best batsman of the team then, my friend, out team is doomed.

Sehwag started going down from 2011, I think after that tournament within a year or two Sehwag was replaced by Dhawan who played a key role in 2013 CT.

Rohit too should have been dropped after 2023 ODI WC, and specially when he already retired after 2024 T20 WC win...we elongated him 2 years.

Reg. Kohli, no one denies that he is still one of the fittest and can run fast. But one thing which starts to decline with age is eye sight and ability to track the ball.

Anyway, if we still want to play one. Kohli can play, but Rohit shouldn't till 2027 ODI WC. Doesn't mean Jaiswal will score 100s after 100s in the ODI WC, coz as you said, no one can guarantee what they will do.

Why should rohit have been knocked after the 2023 ODI WC when he put on some of the best performances including the only good performance by us in the final?

BCCI petitions ICC to make all paTTas for 2027 ODI WC ;-).

Seriously though, keep Iyer on the bench. Open with Jaiswal and Gill. Move Rohit to 4

That is what should happen, it gives Rohit a chance to hit spinners.
