zen Posted February 2, 2021 Author Posted February 2, 2021 (edited) Y'day finished re-watching Shree 420, which is a brilliant follow up to Awara ... Shree 420 has more comic sequences ... Still laughing out loud. The bad guy's car had a 840 (420*2) number plate for e.g. Raj Kapoor is brilliant Both these films work well together (since the "character" is repeated) and have a massive following outside India too ... I hope that someone like Criterion does a 4k restoration of these two films ... Maybe add Sangam to it as well Edited February 2, 2021 by zen

And I didn't like the remake - maybe because I would be disloyal to the original? Or because the original was so impactful on my young-ish mind that nothing else compared, even if technically better? BTW, I don't even understand the meaning of words like "cinematography" - I use it all the time in convos to impress people - "kyaa cinematography thaa yaar" - but I have no clue why I said it. "It happened one night" is among my favorite so Chori Chori does not compare favorably (as one would inevitably draw a comparison)

The art of movie making, especially with photography, lighting, filters, locales and camera angles. Satya was a great example of good cinematography. How about - Story, Screenplay, Dialogues, Sound, Sound Mixing, Special Effects, Sets ?
