zen Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 To go with the other thread - a subcon AT Test 11. Min 1 player from Ind, Pak, SL & BD. Top order (will stick with my favorite one) 1. Gavaskar - solid world AT 11 category opener 2. Sehwag - high SR impact opener 3. Pujara - opposite of Sehwag so maybe a low SR impact batsman Upper middle order 4. Sangakkara - a left hander to break the sequence. reached new heights as a batsman when he ditched his gloves 5. X - a lot of contenders so you decide: Dravid, Sachin, VVS, Kohli, Amarnath, ... Miandad, Inzi ... or even play Kapil as a specialist batsman to see how he does Lower middle order (reserved for ARs) 6. Pant - dynamic WK batsman 7. Sakib - BD representation and a solid player. Will spin the ball away from right handers too Strong #8 (preferably another AR) 8. Imran - will captain as well Bowlers - prefer unorthodox or different type 9. Wasim - left arm pace option 10. X - a lot of options so you decide: Bumrah (unorthodox pace bowler), Waqar (low SR pace bowler), Akthar (for an out and out pace option), ... 11. Murali - spinwiz. will spin the ball into the right handers

express bowling Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 (edited) 1. Gavaskar 2. Sehwag 3. Dravid / Miandad 4. Tendulkar 5. Kohli 6. Sangakkara ( wk ) 7. Imran 8. Jadeja 9. Akram 10. Shami / Kumble 11. Muralidharan Edited March 4, 2021 by express bowling raki05 1
Majestic Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Gavaskar Sehwag Younis Tendulkar Kohli Sangakkara (wkt) Kapil Imran Ashwin Kumble Murali Three spinners and two pacers. Murali was unplayable as a chucker while Imran was magnificent with the tampered bowl in Asia. Batting is there all the way too. Younis was brilliant in Asia too particularly vs spin and generally hit hundreds after getting his eyes jn. Reserves will have Jadeja, Rohit, Pujara and Wasim.
zen Posted March 4, 2021 Author Posted March 4, 2021 An 11 with 50% or less home team players tells me that the poster has given some thought to his 11, balancing players from other teams as well. Also many 11s have left out a BD player (min requirement of 1 player from each of the 4 subcon teams)
Ankit_sharma03 Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Sunny G Sehwag Dravid Sachin Kohli Sanga Imran Jaddu Murali/ Kumble (will be rotated acc to condition for Eg in Aus ill go with Kumble and in england murali ) Wasim Akthar (need X factor) Srinath/Kapil (since Akthar wont be fit half the time)
zen Posted March 4, 2021 Author Posted March 4, 2021 When playing as a specialist batsman, Sangakkara is probably the best batsman from the subcon. Appears criminal to be using him as a keeper v major teams Sangakkara not as WK, avg = 60 Sangakkara as WK, avg = 40 There are WKs who avg or can avg around 40 (or more). For e.g. Pant avgs 43 currently and on the rise

There is no clear evidence that if you give the post 2008 version of Sangakkara gloves, he will also do poor or average with bat based on his career graph.

You do not need clear evidence as Being relieved of keeping was the best thing - Sangakkara A nine-year boom in his batting output has followed the decision to play him as a batsman only. In 84 Tests as a specialist batsman, Sangakkara has hit 9188 runs at an average of 68.05. That average is only second to Don Bradman's for non-wicketkeepers who have scored more than 1000 Test runs.
